Good work Banker, It is always good to hear when an injustice has been corrected. A big thank you to Welfare Rights as well for all the work they do to help people.
Just a question to the centrelink staff who monitor these type of forums. Why do you do this? What exactly are you trying to achieve? Can you explain what is the positive contribution to Australian society, by setting out to destroy people's lives, innocent people who can not defend them selves against a govt department with unlimited financial and legal resources. I just do not understand your motives.

I just do not understand your motives. 1960 I only advised the couple how to go about it, They did not know that they could question a Centrelink decision. He has had a stroke and she is on so much strong medication for pain she would not know what day it is and these are the kind of people that C/L bluff and try to stand over, the sick and weak. Welfare Rights have done a great job on this one because when the decision was first handed down C/L appealed it but gave in at the last minute.....Now where have I heard this before. I just hope the small part I played will help them to live out their final years with some peace and serenity.

It may be significant that this story or those like it seldom appear in the media where as the "Centrelink ripped off" reports appear daily.

Members, I think it is important to remember that not all C/L staff are rotten, just a few. Many of the staff I have met over the years have been very helpful. Its the rotten nasty people we remember, that is human nature.
The guy that was responsible for this I just hope he gets his just deserts. Charged with a criminal act with his name and picture in the press.

Yes it`s a shame some are nasty but I can say that the people in c/l Darwin are very polite and I could not fault them for service and pleasentness.
