The new minister for Human Services, the no-longer Honourable Mr Kim Carr, has gone from recently asserting to his new staff that the 'clients' of welfare agencies must be treated with respect, to now commending the way they handle us.
Any hope of positive change within Centrelink has now gone.
Message from the Minister to Departmental Staff -
16 March 2012
The Department of Human Services is the face of government to the overwhelming majority of Australians.
It underpins the Commonwealth's relationship with its people: as children and parents; as patients and carers; in study, in work and in retirement. It looks after people facing financial hardship or at the sharp end of structural adjustment. It welcomes people to Australia, and it works for Australians through every stage of their lives.
These are the systems that define us as a civilised society - a society that believes in a better life for all.
I have been in this job for two weeks now. In that time, I have received numerous calls and emails from people in distress. For all the prosperity our country enjoys, there is no disguising the profound inequalities we have yet to overcome.
So I have seen some of the problems you deal with every day. I have been impressed at every turn with the quality of the work that you do.
This Department and its members are a vital national asset, the envy of governments all over the world.
There are over 36 000 people in Human Services.
You change lives for the better. (LMAO)
That is the message I gave in the Senate this week, and I intend to tell as many Australians as possible.
I look forward to getting around the country to meet you, and sharing in the great work you do for Australians.

* I stumbled across this message when I went to the website to get his name. I was about to email him advising that I will be taking several matters to the Administrative Decisions Tribunals, including breaches of FOI laws, breaches of my rights to privacy of information - both personal and health, unauthorised access of records, and other assorted acts of misconduct by HIS staff.
Thanks for that info Rowdy, lets see if that place does its job, or plays the same game back at us.
