Hello ld, I know nothing about travel insurance but I am not a frequent traveler. Is it worth it? Depends on the price and what it covers? As for Darwin airport, I passed through there last December. Place was very modern. Carpet was nice but seats were hard.

I've not bothered for years, they refused a couple of claims and it was too expensive. I might look at the $400pa business travel insurance if i get the UP but it seems to only cover 13 week away at a time. There's really no justice is there?

I was referring to the type of insurance you buy together with the ticket.....on Air Asia, for instance, it adds about $7 or $8 to the price. My mistake was to buy insurance for the second (connecting) flight, but not the initial flight out of Oz. Guess my brain wasn't functioning too well that day....

i just had to change my ticket through philippine airlines due to being stranded here in the Philippines because of the typhoon. when i rang they wanted $623 just to put it forward a week! I only had 400 in the bank so couldnt do it. I got onluine and looked at air asia and for about 300 i could get a one way to sydney. so cheap.
I rang PAL back to say get stuffed i found one for 300 and i would never fly with them again (especially after the last time having tools stolen by them). they then said they couild do the cancellation for 300. I said ok then.
Ill pay the 300 tomorrow at a PAL ticketing office. if they try changing it on me again Ill go off and definately never fly with them again.
I never knew about the sydney flights through air asia or I would have flown through them...

They keep changing the flights to make more money and cancel the ones that they do nor make money on. I got caught with them as they cancelled the Chiang Mai to Singapore flights.

It would be good as Adelaide has only Major Airlines out of Adelaide with the exception of Virgin to Bali. Air Asia we talking about it last year to fly out of Adelaide, but Malaysian Airlines and Singapore Airlines i think stuffed that up. Now Emirates going to fly too. So maybe Air Asia use Cairns next. Keep us informed if you here anything.
