What I am thinking is that a few months in Perth will cost me a years living in Thailand, plus airfares and aggravation. I don't want to go through all of this is there is no real chance of getting the dsp and being allowed to live overseas. Has anyone actually achieved this?

Muso
there is not much relevance in comparing your self to others when it comes to permanent portability. Its a process with to many variables to make any meaningful conclusions.
firstly you would need to apply for the dsp so set aside 6 weeks for that and then you apply for permanent portability which can take take around 6 months assuming they knock back on the first attempt.
