Actually the only loophole I see would work like this. You enrol in an open university to undertake a thesis based degree, an M.A. on the distribution of orchids in Myanmar say. The open university then approves you to link up with some institute (the orchid society) in Myanmar. Over you go. It might be a stretch, but that is my legal reading . . .of the Guide.
