Maybe they're standardising payment days, I remember when i got the DSP I was paid a full fortnights dole, then a weeks pension followed by 2 weeks.

what an emotional roller coaster of a day! I received a letter saying my DSP has been suspended so I rang and was told because I didn't reply to a letter they sent asking me do I live in Thailand or Australia, I never got that letter.
was told to go to my local branch where they had set up an interview for me. Interview started she took out a printout showing all my trips away and I had only spent 2 weeks in Oz in the last year and a half and that on these grounds my pension is being cancelled, Fu*k!
she also said that i didn't qualify for UP because its only if your dying or have family members in the country your going to so lucky for me I have DSP overseas in my corner and informed her this is not true.
she started typing something on her screen and said oops wait a minute. It turns out your suspended because of section 24a because you have a defacto relationship and not for residancy. HUH? pointed out this is not true
squirming she digs deeper and says that I'm actually suspended because I didn't return my UP application within the 2 weeks and printed off the cover sheet, well i know it USE to be 2 weeks but my letter said as soon as possible, no date!
then out of the blue she says,"you know what? Im going to reinstate your pension you shouldn't even be here. Just like that it was all over and she looked at me with a smile and said happy days? I felt like saying it was until today's fiasco...

That's good news Zorro. It certainly shows that SOME things can be sorted out rationally and politely over the counter.

Thats so wrong when they pull that shit. Dont they know it causes heart attacks.. I got suspended once they accused me of being in a defacto because I went overseas with my ex. Good to hear you got reinstated.

what? "U.P. only if your dying or have family members in that country". bugger me, my wife and kids are stuck there while im here, that wont help me get U.P. - if anything they consider having a family overseas is confirming you have ties with that country and could affect residency decisions...

Thanks everyone I was glad it ended positive to
It was a bizarre experience. I can only advise that when dealing with these people to be POLITE even if they are off the planet wrong. beleive it or not we know way more here at DSP O/S than c/link management do, knowledge is power but I fear for those pensioners that dont know the rules and have no choice but to accept whatever garbage is dished out to them
In the end she lost so much face that I think she restored the pension just to extract herself from the situation.
