For overseas paid pensioners, the overseas paid component of the supplement goes from $21.10 to $21.30, so there is two bob to put in your pocket. What the basic supplement is, I am not quite sure. And as for the carbon supplement, I cannot see that being paid offshore, since its an onshore living cost adjustment offset.

Abbott will cut $1b in pensions: Macklin THE Coalition would "claw back" $1 billion of a Labor pension rise if it wins government, Families Minister Jenny Macklin says. Single pensioners on the maximum rate will receive an extra $35.80 per fortnight with couples getting an increase of $54 per fortnight. The rise, starting on March 20, covers those receiving the Age Pension, Disability Pension, Carer Payment and veteran income support. Ms Macklin had previously downplayed a link between the pension rise and the September election. But on Wednesday she said the Coalition would "claw back" $1 billion a year that the government is currently delivering to pensioners. "Some of this pension rise would be taken away by Mr Abbott, and people need to know that because they would be worse off," Ms Macklin said in western Sydney on Wednesday. www.theaustralian.com.au/news/breaking-news/abbott-will-cut-1b-in-pensions-macklin/story-fn3dxiwe-1226591534247Must be true or it wouldn't be in the Murdoch press....

Well, if they abolish the carbon tax, they are entitled to take back the carbon tax offset. But Mrs Macklin did not say that explicitly. Once again spin, from these double speak politicians.
Four Corners has a coverage of the Obeid affair this weekend and no doubt it will touch on Mr MacDonald. His great asset apparently, was his ability to switch his tune to suit the audience with not a word of sincerity behind any of it only his own self interest of the grosser kind.
How many Mr Macdonald"s are around the place, let alone Eddies' ? The more one looks, the more one finds.

The damage done by the corporate caused global warming will have to be paid for. Abolish carbon tax and call it something else.

All I can say about this is that this labour Government has been very bad for us pensioners but the thought of the LNP getting into power scares the hell outa me.

I think the LNP would, IF ELECTED, wipe out all bonuses and indexing within 6 months of being in office. There will be a miserly witch hunt for anything "altruistic" or socialistic that will go on for up to a year. Gina Reinhardt and the other Oz fatty miners will be applauding. Within 12 months they will attack the OAP, bigtime. No one will be spared. With a man with a sub 100 IQ, Hockey, wielding this axe, a man who wants zero welfare under his touted "Asian" model, well, it should be a no-brainer what is going to happen . . . Yes Hockey said he wants to make Australia an Asian style economy where there is little or no welfare or help for the unemployed or disabled, In those countries the poor live on rubbish tips and the rich in gated communities with armed guards, If Abbott was in America he would be part of the looney right wing tea party but unfortunetly his here and will probably be PM, l think if most people knew what Abbott/ hockey really have in stall for australia they would'nt be in front in the polls, thats why l think their plan is just to keep quite untill after the election then they will unleash all their nasty extreme economic rationialist policies on us. l just hope somehow labor can make it accross the line

For sure, a 10% slice out of every pie you buy.
How do you suspect Tony Abbott will pay for his income tax cuts? Look forward to 12 1/2% or even 15. The GST was based on a political lie that makes Gillard's carbon tax look like peanuts.
Short memories.
