We've heard about Centrelink refusing to accept doctor's certificates and I'd like to start cataloguing these experiences. We may be able to write to the Australian Medical Association and those MPs who are also medical practitioners. If this happened in the workforce with employees seeking sick leave or workman's compensation there would be a huge outcry. I'll make this a sticky thread. All those who have already posted on this, please do so again here.

Just been assessed for DSP and rejected. How do i know without waiting 6 weeks?...I asked my EPIC case manager. She said your file has been updated by centrelink to 15 hours a week instead of 8 hours and pending, in other words REJECTED. My experence at their hands was utterly traumatising, the BITCH set me up from the get go.Nice smiles, hello, soft soothing voice...played me like a harp and then after 5 mins went for my juggular. She made me feel as if i was on a murder charge and i was fighting for my life. I,ve sat through a drawen out high court case with bewigged barristers and this was new far more intence cross exsamination.I suffer from extreame personalty disorders and i didnt stand a chance....I froze. All i could do was "i dono',i dono".In here clipped staccatto voice she relentlessly keep saying thats not an answer thats not good enough. She skimmed over my phycologists letter in less than 30 seconds and said shes only been seeing you for 9 months she dosn,t know you enough to really make a proper aceaccessment of you.THIS FAILED centrelink{phicologist] who can;t cut it in the real world is overriding my phycologist who is regarded as one of the top in here feild with a BA plus numurous other deplomers to her credit. Sorry bout the spelling mistacks the library computers on the blink

Bad news indeed, take it easy while you wait for the official news then ask for it to be reviewed.

Sorry bout the spelling mistacks the library computers on the blink When it comes time to appeal be sure to follow the advice in this post. dspoverseas.proboards.com/thread/1426?page=1Particularly.. If you simply ask for a review of the "Rejection of your claim for Disability Support Pension" the ARO will see 10 points, can't get DSP with 10 points, original decision correct, appeal rejected... or work capacity more than 15 hours, can't get DSP when able to work more than 15 hours, original decision correct, rejected etc etc. So state your case! You aren't just appealing the decision to reject your claim, you are appealing the decision to award 10 points or the decision that work capacity is greater than 15 hours or whatever your particular situation may be. You are also providing further evidence and outlining why that means the decision should be overturned. You are also picking apart the JCA and outlining why that means the decision should be overturned. I had my rejection overturned at the ARO level following this advice. When he rang me to inform me of my success he stated "... beacause we can't win this on appeal..." Believe me, I was thorough. I suspect even if unsuccessful at ARO, the fact that he will have to address all of the points you raise in writing can only be helpful to you further along the appeals process. Good luck.

Latest update,....My case manager rung up and said GREAT NEWS your application for dsp has been suspended until the first of JULY as my 'FAKE' centerlink 'phycologist' accessore believes that i need more time with my shrink before she can make a decicion as to my mental state and wether i am elegigle for dsp. Again my phycologist is the top in her feild,[ba with honers], you have to book many months in advance in order to see her,and this centre link 'hack' is overriding her. BUT WAIT THEIRS MORE........after reading the many great articals written by you guys it dawned on me......Bob Abbot is going to do away with the dsp as far as us mentals are concerned, and the cut of date is.....you guessed it ...the first of July. THE CENTRELINK BITCH HAS SET ME UP TO FAIL. Hey you guys, any ideas on what to do, all us mentals are toast

She's sending you back to the psychologist who's report she is querying? You should certainly discuss this at your first appointment.
The government is querying why so many people on the DSP are there for mental disability, there is no talk of throwing all of them off the DSP. You should take most of what is posted here with a pinch of salt, this is a public forum and I have little control over what people say and how they interpret news articles.

See if you can get the decision reviewed by an Authorized Review Officer, but I do agree with you that those of us that are mentally ill and under 40 are cactus and it's getting tiresome reading "wait and see" from the "I'm alright Jack" crowd who have nothing to worry about.

Mental illnesses will continue to rise in future. I was reading about Japan and Korea and its disturbing where this could lead if they dont do anything here. Suicides in both mentioned countries are staggering. They just ignore the existence of mental illnesses. Australia heading for the same blow out.
I think australian government did a huge mistake with their welfare law in the past and now its hunting them back. There is no real solution for them to cut the numbers. If DSP goes down than newstart gets up. Either way they cant win. Aging population and run away companies to overseas destinations do the rest.
Australia seems doomed for the future. High unemployment, no manufacture industries and a sell off to the chinese at the moment.
They always talk about get a job, look for jobs but where are the jobs? What jobs they creating? News are full with job losses, companies moving overseas...
What kind of jobs they creating for the people? Cant see any...
Its time to prepare for plan B guys! Dont even count that OAP still exists in 20years. I doubt it.
In the meantime enjoy the day and dont worry to much.
