Greenman, Banjo.
Work going on. I did not factor food and refreshments for the workers. We have to provide food anyway, but the consumption is higher of course.
In an elongated rectangle, the land is 12m wide and we have about 25m going back, allowing a small space to park a car in front. Dont have a car, but maybe later.
So from the back, working forward.
Kitchen, it is not built, it is a slab of concrete with only a partial roof. We already have and outdoor kitchen and an outdoor toilet, which I built last year. No plan to actually build it, maybe when I get back from my OAP thingy.
Living room. Like a studio, 5 x 4....front and back door, 7 windows. Just installing the front 2 windows and front and back door right now. Galvanized roof, hardwood frame, wood from a tree we cut..
Front verandah. 5x 4..supposed to be open, but became more enclosed using some excess materials....a partially open area with a roof.
Front extension...3 x 5..just a slab, I do have some outdoor tiles to go on. No roof but a partial overhang.

Roof is now on. And we are on a 3 week break.
I'm going with a one week push. 2 doors, 2 front windows, and laying tiles in the main room. Waiting for next US Pension and kids allowance, which I use for building.
Also got an unexpected $477 US, on an appeal I lodged 5-6 months ago.

No thanks BB, I had a quick blue with them when I was head hunting members for DSPoverseas among the expat forums. I see absolutely no benefit in talking to people like that.

I see absolutely no benefit if talking to people like that. ya not wrong there Banjo cobber about that site. last night i did some Internet research and i was shocked to find that it ( i can only say it.. meaning this particular web site) should be investigated by a certain branch of the interpol for unsavory members who in my option are xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx , no doubt some members are genuine people but what i found gives me the shivers & no confidence in most of the members especially the Australian members,,, very arrrr how do i put it ? very well put it this way , not to my liking, cheers from BB in Philippines. Edit by Banjo: Just removed some of your probably perfectly genuine opinions BB but I don't want to get into a pissing match with expat forums if I can avoid it.

yep, most of them are an absolute bunch of wankers, and im sure alot of xxxxxxxxxx in there as well. many are winging about people on aussie DSP trying to survive in the Philippines, yet there DSP is portable indefinately and thier govt pays thier child support of any kids they have abroad. we get nothing if we have kids overseas and can even have our DSP cut if were married. I would like to see these guys survive under the same conditions then they might change their tune a bit...
Edit by Banjo: See post above mate... LOL

Good is it to see the Noble Ones; to live with them is ever blissful. One will always be happy by not encountering fools.

A trip to Dumaguete......
I have been to Dumaguete a few times now and would like to share a few of my experiences...........I fly Gold coast to Singapore with scoot and then onto Cebu with Cebu Pacific or Tiger.
In Cebu I go to the south bus terminaland catch the airconditioned coach to Dumaguete the leaves several tims a day, I usually get one about 7.00am........The bus usually costs 200p....the trip all up takes about 5 hours maximum including the ferry ride between the 2 islands.
The trip goes south from Cebu down the coast and there is some lovely views, there is usually a movie going on the bus tv and there is free wi-fi on the bus as well.
There is usually a toilet stop at Argo and while waiting to get on the Ferry.
The bus stops at Santander at the bottom of Cebu to get on the ferry to Negros...I usually get off the bus to go on the top deck of the ferry for about a pleasant 30 to 40 min ride which cost 70p.
After the ferry ride i get back on the bus for about a 30 min ride into the bus terminal in Dumaguete.
The last trip I stayed in a apartment complex called Freedom apartments on Palipinion road which is about 7klms west of Dumaguete central, it was a one bedroom apartment about 17 metres long and about 3.5 metres wide, in a 5 apartment complex and a pool.
The apartment had a very nice big bathroom with a hot and cold water shower, air con in the bedroom and was fully furnished with cutlery, refrigerator, tv, linen etc and was 10,000p a month short term rental and utilities like electricity, internet and cable tv were extra, I used a total of 80kw of electricity fot the month at 10p a kw, cable tv was 300p, wi-fi internet was 600p, water 200p, it was a bit expensive rental....but long ter rental would be cheaper...but when I go there long term am looking a nice 2 bedroom apartment in Valencia with a pool and jacuzzi and a raiforest back drop...........but more on that later.
The freedom apartments were easy to get into Dumaguete from as just had to walk out the front and wait for a motorcyle taxi, a 10p ride to the public market in town.
More on Dumaguete next post
