If you have a read of the paragraph - Fairer Disability Support - It mentions something about their Plan for review of the tables will be in place by July 2014. I couldn't find anything else about it on google. www.greens.org.au/disability-supportAnyone with any ideas. 1960.

And while we're on the subject of costing's by the Parliamentary Budget Office, maybe we could sent them a submission with the actual extra cost's to the government, of forcing us to stay in Australia.
It's been stated before, that polititions and beauricrates living in Canberra, live in another universe and have no idea about actual real life experiences and costs incurred by their fundimentalist legistlations.

Sounds great, but the greens don't run the country, Abbotts never going to give people on the DSP a fair go, The Labor party either. A fair go for mining magnates yes, disability pensioners no way.

An interesting policy that they maybe could have done a little more about when they were in a position of power last year. FAIRER DISABILITY SUPPORTMany people with disability face significant barriers to employment. A caring society would ensure people with disability have fair income support and are not forced to live below the poverty line. A caring society provides support systems which enable people with disability to live with dignity. That is why the Greens will work towards fairer and improved support for people with disability by reversing the 2011 changes which made it more difficult for people with disability to qualify for the Disability Support Pension (DSP). Our plan has been fully costed by the Parliamentary Budget Office at $791 million over 2013-14 Budget forward estimates and will be in place from July 2014. FAIR INCOME SUPPORT Income support for people with disability has been steadily eroded by the old parties since the Howard Government’s changes in 2006. This year, for the first time since October 2006, the number of people receiving the DSP has fallen; from 828,257 people In April 2012, to 811,009 people in March 2013. While this would be a positive if people had moved off the DSP into sustainable employment, in reality it reflects that far too many people with disability are now on the much lower Newstart rate. The Greens want a well-funded entitlement-based disability support system that promotes respect, participation and inclusion. WE NEED FAIR IMPAIRMENT TABLESSince tougher eligibility criteria for the DSP were introduced last year the number of successful applicants has halved. The Greens believe that the impairment tables must be reviewed to reverse the changes which made qualifying for the DSP more difficult, and to ensure an improved, fairer system that can take into account people’s individual circumstances and needs The process should not be focussed on how to save money but on how best to support those with living with disability. The review must be undertaken in a realistic timeframe and with broad consultation with people and organisations that will be affected by any changes. NEWSTART IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITYWe will also remove the punitive measures which force people with disability onto Newstart for 18 months while they try and find work. Insufficient incomes and complex participation requirements for vulnerable people do not help them find work more easily. These changes just foster a sense of hopelessness and set people up to fail. WE NEED CONCERTED ACTION ON EMPLOYMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITYWe need to be realistic about the employment opportunities that are currently available to people with disability. Many people who want to work face significant barriers to finding and keeping a job. They need ongoing specialist support to do so. Many job seekers with disability face discrimination. There can also be mismatches between the skills and attributes employers demand and what job seekers with disability are able to deliver. A fair support system would take into account that a person assessed as able to work does not necessarily have a realistic chance of being offered a job. Making the DSP harder to qualify for hasn't made it any easier for Australians with a disability to get jobs. Instead of being forced into poverty we believe more action needs to be taken to support people with a disability to achieve sustainable work outcomes. We are committed to providing specialist job services for people with disability or low educational achievements.

During the last election only one politician, Clive Palmer, announced that he would raise the pension rate etc. He holds the balance of power now. Any revisionist ideas for us DSPers should be addressed only to him (the Greens are gone) as he might use the ideas. Otherwise forget it. Wait for the double dissolution the LNP right wing psychos are going after, and maybe the country will rethink electing fascists with South African accents at the behest of an American nightmare, Murdoch.
