You don't need to prove you can support her anymore.
The "assurance of support" requirement was dropped about 2 or 3 years ago. I can state this definitely and absolutely.

It does depend on what country you fiance is from, there is a list of SE Asian countries that are overstay risk. and I would imagine the embassy that deals with them. I had a lot of dealings with bangkok embassy (before the system changed) which were all negative. When applying for tourist visa the major factor is "a reason to return" and if you can convince case worker (hi so Thai woman usually) of that then visa was usually approved, this is off subject. ps, I dont know if situation has changed much with contracting company handling visas in BKK

I paid $1200 for a spouse visa in Adelaide, if I paid for it in BKK it would have been more, cant remember what multiple visitor cost was but I applied for 3 and was knocked every time. The reason "no reason to return" and the situation had changed every application In the end I won with help from my local member.
