Hi, I'm new here and want to say thank you to those who give such good advice on this wonderful website.
I have been living overseas for nearly 3 years and would like to return to live in Oz permanently. I am an Austalian citizen and was receiving an Age Pension prior to leaving, having lived in Australia for 44 years continuously - and I worked for most of those years.
Unfortunately I shall be renting. Is there a time limit for returning? Your help would be most appreciated.

Depending on your current country you can ring Centrelink for free and let them know prior to your arrival. All the best.

Hi Evangelllin, are you receiving the age pension while you are overseas? Unless you had other sources of income there is no reason why you should not have, many Australians live overseas on this benefit.

Thanks for such a quick response - it puts my mind at rest. Yes I do receive the pension overseas and sadly no other assets or source of income. As I don't own a home I will be renting on my return; will this cause any problem with CL? Also do I have to return within 3 years?

No, the Age pension portability is forever, you will pick up a few extra dollars when you get back, allowances etc you lose overseas.
