Im not sure of the waiting list in Q'Land now but 15 years ago you could wait for 15 years on the Gold Coast or get one straight away in Roma in an Aboriginal settlement. In Q'Land if your away from the property for more than 4 weeks? you will loose the property. If you have a visitor for more than two nights they must be notified and they could increase your rent... . Re the recent newsletter regarding having property and bills in your name. I dont know about anyone else, but there's no way I could afford rent power bills and food on the dsp I am receiving. To say that paying rent in a shared place is not acceptable for residency seems a long bow to draw for me. As for having a property taken away from you because your away from that property for more than 4 weeks just sounds preposterous. Not doubting you Banker, but how could that possibly stand up in law?

He's talking about a Housing Commission place, mate. They have their own rules which you have to agree to abide by before they will give you a place.

They also have rules about who can stay there, if they suspect the same person is spending too much time there (as opposed to the tenant) they will put the rent up. My eligibility is a purely academic question anyway... a white, single, adult male may get a house or unit by 3006.

Re housing and residency, what if you have no accommodation at all. What if your sleeping rough under the stars, does that then give them the right to say your not a resident. Every year the amount of people sleeping rough in Australia is rising. You certainly wouldn't have any white goods. ;D
