I want to be an apprentice but I want my DSP also. But with the apprentice the hours are over 30 per week so you don't get the DSP but the wage is low.

Is there a way you can take twice as long and work half the hours? Have you talked to anyone about this?

No apprentice is usually full-time.
there should be an exception for apprentice it deters people on dsp from doing it.

Well if you can find work you can do for 38 hours a week you will be far better off than being on the DSP. At your age you should certainly accept the opportunity.

Not a hard decision. If I could work I would ditch the DSP immediately.

Even at a low wage it gives you a start in life and leads to a worthwhile job at decent money.

Well done if you can get an apprenticeship. The end rewards are worth it. Just remember that "once upon a time" an apprentice bought his/her apprenticeship. Edit: OP means mother has the Carer's payment.
