Thank you for your e-mail and for sharing your thoughts with us. Your comments have been noted by Senator Milne. They are appalled by many aspects of the Budget and intend to stand up to Mr Abbott and block the budget measures that attack universal healthcare, we will block the user-pays model for universities, and will block the changes that disadvantage people on pensions, Newstart and Youth Allowance.
Prime Minister Abbott has threatened to go to a Double Dissolution election if the Senate doesn’t give him what he wants and the Greens are prepared to give Australians the chance at a new election to let Mr Abbott know exactly what they think of his attack on the most vulnerable in our community.
We understand the anger and dismay people are feeling about the Abbott government’s budget and the resulting call for the Senate to block supply. But blocking supply is a step that would throw Australia into chaos, it would leave hundreds of thousands of people without paychecks and stop essential services in the community.
We can block the most harmful measures being proposed by the Abbott government without blocking supply.
Blocking these budget measures in the Senate will ensure the changes don’t go through and if it means another election, then so be it, we will not let Mr Abbott get away with using the myth of a budget emergency to dismantle the safety nets and rights that so many people rely on.

its highly unlikely that the senate will block supply. there is nothing we can do about it. it doesn't hit for 5-6 months so make sure you get at least one or 2 trips in, and leave again december 30 or something go somewhere cheap. and come back april, thats my plan. at least i would have something..

conceivably that's where they are heading with this. possibly you might even need to provide proof of an family emergency or something and only for 2 weeks. liberals only care about you if you are rich. if we were all self funded retirees or other such we would be left alone and given tax breaks. worst government in history. they are all grubs. its a horrible feeling being at the whim of these lot, i wish i didn't have to be on the pension while still having enough money to live freely. they could shove their money and their dictatorship.

There's no such thing as a self funded retiree, the taxpayer put $35 billion into super funds last year as opposed to $37 billion for the Age pension. You work out who's getting the most per person.
