Hi everyone. I am so worried I forgot to tell Centrelink about my term deposit I get about 3,000 per year from it and I never told them for about 3 years. Am I going to be in trouble. I never knew I had to before I started reading around. Am I going to be in trouble. Any advice???

There's probably a chance that they will never know, but if it worries you ask Welfare Rights to act on your behalf and talk to Centrelink. There will probably be a repayment but you should be able to negotiate a small regular payment over several years. www.welfarerights.org.au/organisations/nsw/sydney

Because I pay tax in the interest surely they cross reference check with the ato. but i got away with it for the first 3 years.

That's all you need to say If you think you cannot handle it ring Welfare Rights and ask them to do it for you
