Hard to get an accurate result when the rules and guidelines have changed so much over the years.

I applied, at the suggestion of C/L, on 3 grounds under the old disability tables back in 2010 and received it at the first attempt with the decision taking about 3 weeks.
Subsequently I applied for UP in 2013 and was assessed under the current disability assessment tables on the same 3 grounds, but with updated medical records, and was granted UP at the first attempt.
The UP application took me 12 months to get medical records together, make application and wait for a decision with the decision process taking a bit over 3 months from JCA interview to decision.

I actually spread some tomato sauce on my shirt to give the right image.

Fantastic question. would love to know statistics. Would seem these days that no one gets it until they are put on newstart and then appeal. For me back in 1997 that was what happened also and i got on it after first SSAT appeal. UP took 8 #$%^!@* years.

good to look down to the floor and try to avoid eye contact. Totally agree. But you have to remember to make occasional eye contact and then swivel your eyeballs around and around. Possibly helps if you suddenly stand up from time to time and wave your arms about. Muttering about aliens under your breath of course. PS I will desist from my flippant remarks |

I applied for DSP in 2003 and was granted on first attempt with 20 points under one impairment table.
In 2013 I was given IP on first attempt and on the new impairment tables given 30 points.

I think centrelink took a holistic approach to my case. They carefully considered my family history and the outcomes that I have experienced in Australia. I think I have been put in "The too hard basket" and there are some people out there that believe society is too blame. I made it clear that I am not stupid and I am not a wimp - shit happens. I got approved instantly for the DSP in 2009 and was immediately approved for UP in 2014 ...
