I would suggest being prepared always and have a report from a Psychiatrist/ Clinical Psychologist before waiting for a review. In other words, don't wait for Centrelink to surprise you what happens to those that do get surprised , does centrelink allow them to get a Psychiatrist/ Clinical Psychologist report for their review or reassessment or do they just get automactically kicked off the DSP, l guess there probably thousands out there who only have a GP diagnosis and don't realise theres new rules and they need a Psychiatrist/ Clinical Psychologist report. I understand what you're saying wombat79 it's a sad situation, we can only hope that people are informed enough, and are looking after their own best interests. Maybe providing support information via other social media outlets would be an option. Thoughts people??

Maybe providing support information via other social media outlets would be an option. Thoughts people?? Banjo may have some thoughts on this but I think the facebook and 'twitter' things have been tried but you need folk to maintain them. And I don't use twitter and removed myself from facebook years ago. But I think itsmylife08 that until you have the need you wont appreciate what C/Link may or may not be doing to you. And I just instance my own circumstances whereby being granted DSP in October 2010, then being told by a friend that had been to the Philippines that I could go overseas, then being pinged for residency in 2012 was when I went online and searched for other folk that may have been in the same situation, and that's when I found this forum and met all you good folk and read the personal stories and found out how ignorant I had been and what I needed to do. I think there is a comment by someone along the lines of "Necessity is The Mother of Invention". Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

Spot on again denis. Unless you need Centrelink it is not possible to understand the culture of how they operate. This is Australia so not possible they have similarities with North Korea, Pol Pot etc the general public think. Nobody can comprehend it unless you experience it first hand. The like minded Australian politicians make the brutal rules but then Centrelink is even more zealous in how they interpret them.

The problem is itsa that the general population needs to understand as well and unless the media or legal action brings it to their attention nothing will change. A royal commission would change things for sure but that would go against everything politicians believe in so no hope of that as yet. So i don't even see a faint light at the end of the tunnel as yet that anything will change. But we should never give up trying while helping people win their own small battles along the way. But win the war and these battles no longer exist.

My understanding is that reviews are similar to new applications in that they work within the 13 week window.
When I originally applied for DSP (after it was suggested by centrelink when I'm lost my job on health grounds) they offered no advice on what the assessment criteria is. I admit I didnt look at it myself until my application was denied.
Even with the shortages of welfare rights centres I believe they are the best place to at least seek advice from.
I didnt know anything about the 13 weeks, or that to have any mental health impairment required a clinical psych diagnosis. But I did have a memtal health plan which made it a lot easier to get a diagnosis within the 13 week window.
Assume that centrelink will only accept what they are expecting in terms of medical reports and if you havent been reviewed against the 2012 tables be prepared to need appropriate evidence.
