Hi Guys... I am very new to this... I have a 14 year old daughter... I busted up my back and I am on DSP... I have a girlfriend in the Phillipines.. My daughter and I would like to move to the North in La Union. But it seems I cant keep my pension... I will never ever be fixed.. Im on all sorts of things to get through the rough times for pain... A back brace I wear more and more as I get older... Does anyone know If i can move there on a semi permanent manner with my daughter and not lose my pension? I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. Newbie.. Welcome to the forum Newbie. The only way Disability Support Pensioners can live overseas is with Indefinite/Unlimited Portability which you have to apply for and undergo a reassessment. You need to discuss it with your doctor before you apply.

Welcome newtopia
I believe the best place for you to start is on the relevant impairment table, and asking your psychiatrist to write a report that addresses the impairments and examples in the table for mental health (I think it's table 5)
For the rest of the application it may be worth contacting welfare rights/community legal as they should be able to assist with the rest in a single appointment.
It's worth remembering (something I didnt realise when I first applied) that there is very little medical on the DSP application form but your assessment will be based on the impairment tables. Having a diagnosis from a psychiatrist is important for a mental health impairment (first step in the 'fully diagnosed treated and stabilised' criteria.
Also remember that there is often differences between how Centrelink use terms (such as stabilised) and what we generally think of them as meaning.
With your psychiatrist and support worker on board it should help, but take time to be prepared and hopefully it will be a smooth process.

Welcome to the forum newtpoia. Good advice from tasjo. Only anyone who has experienced mental illness will understand how crazy the system is expecting a sufferer to be capable of making the application all on their lonesome. To have a successful outcome, you will need to get 20 points, and your condition will need to have been Diagnosed (tick), Treated and Stabilized. These two descriptors "Must be Met" as well, to have any chance of being given a grant of DSP. Cheers bear

Welcome newtpoia. From all the current evidence don't feel rejected if you fail to get it the first time as this is the usual things these days with the torture rules. Even quadriplegics are being put on the dole. So don't think you are the only one. Then you must appeal and you will eventually get it. But many just give up and that's why they do it. You MUST never give up and you will be fine. But do as tasjo says and maybe first time will be fine as it should be. Good luck

Do you know what's happening now? Your posts have been moved to a closed board for more privacy and also there's a lot more information there. You should have been given a link and a password by now but if not I'll send a message.

When we started we headhunted from as many other forums as we could, google forum expat and dozens come up. Then we worked on getting our search terms so they came up easily and after that it was word of mouth. To be honest I don't really chase members now, I think 99% of people can get all of the info they need without joining. I think we pick up a few from the FaceBook page. I check out new members as well, if their IP address comes up in Russia I have tendency to reach for the delete button. You may notice we're virtually spammer free, I caught one this week, the first in years. No doubt when some keen young people start taking over the forum then the tools are there for a real welfare activist website.

Welcome to the forum alanurbana. And your point is? bearI think maybe alanurbana does not understand how to make a correct posting as their status under their name and avatar says " Hi and thanks for approving my membership I hope for some advice about re-establishing residency." alanurbana may I suggest you find the Board called General Board at dspoverseas.proboards.com/board/17/general-board and create a new thread called Alan Urbana and type in in the section below the thread name a bit about yourself and then Create Post the thread. There are many threads about residency and I am sure many members can help you. Welcome to the forum.
