This was implemented in June 2014,I had a letter stating ,under their own calculations that my working ALWR was 40 yrs,I was out of the country before they implemented it,and they still adjusted it down, see my old posts, So why are they implementing something they passed over two years ago Mate it is also your responsibility to keep up with the changes. When the legislation was passed the effective date was January 2017. Other legislation has not yet been passed but whatever is pending probably won't effect you. You have 40 years AWLR. You get a full OAP. After 6 weeks the pension supplements are dropped or reverted to what they call the overseas rate You (obviously) can't get rent assistance living overseas. You could stay overseas based on what you have posted. I can't see your old posts but what is your current AWLR per CL? Whatever is the answer you might be better off returning to Australia every 6 months. It might be good strategy anyway to return every year to ensure your health card doesn't lapse.

The legislation referred to above,in this post has not been passed.
But time is closing and as I understand the legislation may be presented to the Senate this sitting i.e. January/Feb 2017.
Is that correct or has it been sent back for further revision?

chris .. don't know if it's been sent back for further revision, but they seem to be hedging their bets as to when the legislation may be presented. Cheers bear www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/bill_em/sslarb2016482/memo_0.html Schedule 1 - Proportional payment of pensions outside Australia Summary From 1 January 2017 or, in the event that the Act receives Royal Assent after 1 October 2016, on the first 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October after Royal Assent, this Schedule reduces from 26 weeks to six weeks the period during which age pension, and a small number of other payments with unlimited portability, can be paid outside Australia at the basic means-tested rate. After six weeks, payment will be adjusted according to the length of the pensioner's Australian working life residence.
