Since beach fishing was my favorite hobby I would go as far north as possible on either east or west coast without ending up in a one horse 🐴 town and buy a tinnie for river fishing, crabbing etc. Always had a freezer full of filets which cut weekly food bills down a lot It's not just about property. The cost of my meds are skyrocketing without PBS and my health isn't getting any better and health insurance here for GOOD coverage is to expensive. I here the mother land calling 😭😳 I hear what you are saying pady. I have only been up NW to Exmouth and NE to Cairns. And Darwin of course. My favourite would be somewhere around the SE NSW border or NE Victorian border. Many fishing spots and decent hospitals not too far away. And Rainforest! All the best Denis

All the best Denis Yes I like it down around that border I've traveled extensively right across oz for many years with my marketing company before getting sick. The reason I have to go north is the cold winters down south play havoc with my nerve damaged legs so it's got to be hot n humid Good part about oz is there are so many climate choices within a single country

I remember it hitting 49. Both shares and currency in oz fluctuate a lot. Due to such a small population it doesn't take much to move the markets

Stay away from north Thailand pady if you want hot and humid. Sitting here now feels like minus 2. BBBBRRRRR. Bring on the hot season also for me. Actually, I just found my thermometer and it really is minus 2. What a good guess that was at 6.00 a.m.

bearI was told about it at the time and have fought against it ever since in my own piddling way. I think Gough Whitlam was an Australian to be proud of actually. He may or may not have done much but he volunteered for the Royal Australian Air Force in WWII. I think he was surrounded by some d*ckheads when he won Government in 1972 and those same d*ckheads brought him undone because they were communists.

Yes Whitlam started the rot with Australia's involvement with the Lima Declaration, but subsequent Prime Ministers did not pull the rug, just kept going with it.

Just seems stupid that the only things that matter in Australian life these days is Same Sex Marriage, Australia Day and whether you can drive and have a drink of water at the same time, while the country goes down the drain economically.

Denis-NFAYes; no arguments from me concerning Gough, he was a true statesman, perhaps our last. They didn't give him a fair go that's for sure. It was the trade minister; Button, if memory serves, and the U.N. with their high falootin' ideas & agenda. All of that CKD car manufacturing, dual badging crap. A Ford Ute was still a Ford Ute whether it had Nissan on it or not; and vice versa Nissan Patrols were never Ford Mavericks. Cheers bear

Just curious what was the original 4wd, a Ford Maverick, or Nissan Patrol? Land Rover or Jeep, unless in Japan; nah just messin' about! Patrols came to Australia in about '68-70 I think. Whereas Land Cruisers came at the end of the fifties, early sixties to work on Snowy Hydro. Cheers bear

Bear,
thanks but curious whether a Ford Maverick was a rebadged Nissan Patrol, or vice versa?
In my younger years I had several Range Rovers, starting off with a 1980 2 door, so when we out in the Brindabella ranges I sat inside and shifted to low range, while all the Jap owners were getting wet locking in hubs.
