Hmm...terms and conditions....the fine print.
I presume they are talking about Visa or Mastercard purchases.

Yes you just have to use the card to make 5 Visa debit transactions a month, I usually just use it on Lazada to buy 5 x 9.5php worth of load.. I don't feel safe using the card in store in SEA.

A little research said in Thailand you would be required to use an Aeon ATM, which are few and far as I understand it. Hopefully it wasn't ING! Cheers bear

I just read a travel article saying what a scam our banks use when we use ATM's overseas and up pops the question; do you want it converted to A$? Most people say yes and get done big time. Sadly I deleted it so can't paste and it was really long. And I now forget but when I started NetBank a year or so ago I thought it was good with good rates and a $24.00 fee only. But recently it cost me 10,000 baht on an A$5K transfer. And recently took 20,000 baht out of ATM and cost me A$100.00 more than if I had of changed cash. Does anyone know if I transfer from Oz bank to Thai bank if I should do it in A$ or baht? The article on ATM's said baht or whatever local currency it is. Think I may go back to my strict cash-only rule.

If using an Australian ATM card you should always select the local currency not AUD.

Think I may go back to my strict cash-only rule. If you do the transfer through an Australian Bank, it will cost you a lot more than using a transfer company. The 2 transfer companies that I use are, Transferwise and Instarem. To send AUD$5,000 with Transferwise, you will get 106,369.79 baht in your Thai bank account. The rate is 21.44760 and their fee is $40.90 If you use Instarem and send AUD$5,000, you will get 106,713.75. Their rate is 21.45 baht and the fee is $25 IF you wanted to send the money with ANZ, the fee is between $24 and $32. Send it to Kasikorn bank in Thailand and you will get around 102,814. Their exchange rate is 20.662 Baht. From memory, the Thai bank will also charge you around a 1,000 baht for the transfer. So it's going to cost you about 4,900 baht more to use the bank. 4,900 baht is $228.50. Never use the banks. The transfer companies are quick, ( You can have the money in your account within a day ) and reliable. I have transferred over $40,000 in the last few years and never a problem These rates are current at 5.00 pm 26th June 2019

How is the Pines peso going? The first time I can remember in many years the A$ below 20 baht here for cash. 19.98. seems to be still on a downward run for a long time now. So much for that last 2 beers, a week rise we just got/coming.

So much for that last 2 beers, a week rise we just got/coming. It's currently sniveling fractionally up and down around 35pesos to the A$ nomadic. I did see in passing that PhP peso was falling against the US$ (?) and I saw that fuel prices have gone up already (Fils import nearly all their fuel). I'm told that Davao in the Philippines is cheaper than Thailand and certainly cheaper than Argao.
