Sorry for being so miserable. I never imagined my life like this. I've been a single parent since 1998 following divorce and worked my arse off to provide for my kids with no child support or even interest in the kids from the ex. I enjoyed working.. I loved my job. It was hard work but it was the career I wanted and loved. I never relied on anyone.. there was nobody to rely on. I was proud of being able to buy a home on my own and pay my own way in life. i even took the kids on holidays overseas. I imagined I'd be working until I retired. How quickly things change. And there is still nobody to rely on.. not even the system that is in place to supposedly help you when you find yourself at rock bottom.

Sounds like you have a battle on your hands. Clink rejecting dsp applications seems to be the norm these days, in the hope that applicants give up. But you should fight back, and i think you can win.

I forgot to say you should get your file and JCA report from C/link as others have mentioned earlier. Good luck.

Yes juniper 61 you must continue to fight them as many here have already done and won and others are currently doing. You will win with persistence as that's how they try to break us. You must break them and always with a smile is even better. Good luck for a fast settlement in your favor.

I strongly recommend visiting or contacting Welfare Rights and having them give you some advice on what further information you should be submitting to have the decision reviewed. It is also worth reapplying while you wait for the review and if you have to continue to Appeal. Advocacy should be able to assist with letters to your GP... I am using an advocate to do this as part of my 2nd level Appeal so that the letters are not classed as 'self reported'. I suspect that it isnt the fibro diagnosis that is preventing you being allocated points but more likely the 'Treated ànd Stabilised' criteria as this seems to be where most JCAs lack understanding. It may also be worth checking the way that it is worded as it is 'Centrelink language'... not necessarily what you would expect it to be. Keep fighting!

Please contact Welfare Rights. They go by the name of Basic Rights in Qld. If you explain your situation, you may meet their criteria for assistance.

So.. had appointment with doctor and advocacy today. Advocate is handling appeal and got me to sign something for welfare rights. Got to see assessment. The assessor has contradicted himself in several areas and stated there was no letter from rheumatologist. Advocate is going to argue that because there clearly was and he has copies from all doctors and is going to also argue that my permanent disability to knee was only given 5 whereas it was given 10 last time and the GP is writing a letter to that effect. All letters were 100% in support of my claim and in Centrelink appropriate language. Apparently the assessor I had is one of the nastiest out there and my advocate has had many a run in with him. So it's all in the advocates hands now.

Yeah, writing stuff in the JCA Report that is completely wrong, confusing and contradictory is a hallmark of JCA assessors.
Glad to hear your advocate has a handle on it.

I have no idea what is going on anymore. My anxiety and depression is getting worse due to the stress I am under. Cognitive difficulties caused by those plus the fibromyalgia means I struggle to make sense of anything.
I met with advocate the other day and asked him when the appeal was lodged.. he said he didn't know. I reworded my question and asked on what date did you take it into Centrelink for me.. again he answered that he did not know. He had called me into the meeting because he needed me to sign the new application forms that I had signed at our last meeting. Did he lose the others? Did he submit the appeal documents? I am clueless.
He has announced he is retiring in a month and is going to be starting interviews for his replacement next week and train them prior to retirement. Hmm.. so much better. Not!
Centrelink sent me a letter last week to tell me they are phoning me today but it does not say why. Panic attack much? Yes!!
I really want to give up on life because I have none. I go pick up food from salvos and I go to my many doctors appointments and I cry and sleep and try to stretch my pain meds out as far as I can. I had to drop one fibromyalgia med as it was not on pbs. I'm self harming to stop the mental pain. I'm isolated and sinking deeper into poverty. My health.. mental and physical is deteriorating rapidly the longer I am living this way. And then people tell me how they got dsp first go for one condition when I have three and if I had the energy and could use my leg that way I'd kick them where it hurts.
I'm so very tired.

juniper I know it's far easier said than done but try not to overthink what has happened with your soon to be retiring advocate and your documents.
Centrelink is phoning you today! Hopefully it'll be the phone call to say they aren't taking it to the appeals stage. That you've won.
That's what we here all hope for you! All the best, bear

Juniper, I think you should go back to your doctor and tell him about these issues like the self-harming. It's something that definitely needs professional advice. Maybe give Lifeline a ring, just for a chat? www.lifeline.org.au/

All the best, bear Centrelink didn't phone at 9:45 so I waited until 11:00 and called them and nobody seemed to know what the phone appointment was about or which department generated it. They put me through to someone in dsp and I asked about the appeal and it hadn't been lodged as I suspected.. wasn't the advocate supposed to be making life easier for me? So the nice guy at dsp took my reasons for appealing and typed for ages and said it would now go to a review officer.
