Hi, I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with. If a recipient of the DSP is granted so because of a terminal illness, that terminal illness is supposed to kill the recipient within 2 years. So what exactly happens when you don't die? What if you stay alive for the next 5 years or even 10? Would Centrelink review you and say excuse me mate according to our calculations you should have died last November, and have to stop your payments as a result? My 2nd question and unrelated to the first. What are the benefits and entitlements a dependant on your pension concession card can enjoy? If my wife is listed a dependant on my pcc what is she entitled to. I enquired with the rail authority and they said she still has to pay full fare. Thanks

I would think that Centrelink would call you in for a reassessment and if you're still dying your pension would continue. If you've recovered, then onto the dole you would go. It would come down to what Centrelink decides based on current medical reports.
Not sure about the concession cards, I thought it was one card, one person. Does it vary from state to state?

Your wife's name appears on your DSP card?
Qld Rail gives a concession to the person named on the card. I don't know about other States.

Go back to Centrelink with it and ask what your wife's concessions are.

Generally concessions only apply to the first named person on a card... unless it is a child on a Family Allowance Concession card... my name appears on my husbands Carers Payment pension card but I cant claim concessions on it (my concessions come from my Health Care card)

I was of the understanding that anyone who's name appears on the card is entitled to concession prices if listed as a dependant. Maybe that is only for medical purposes? When the cards are sent out, the bit of paper the card is attached to tells you how and where the card can be used.
