Just a quick update to everyone. After a rather rough weekend I'm back on an even keel. While speaking with CIS this morning, a very helpful worker told me she could see someone was working on my file and gave me a number for the Senior's Line, (!32300) so I could check on the progress of my application. After thirty-five minute of chamber music, another very helpful worker gave me a detailed update. Apparently my application is a complex case which has escalated two tiers up the chain and he was hopeful it would be approved on February 5th. No promises though! I've been tossing this about in my head since the Friday visit! They were very insistent about downloading and using the "Centrlink Express App" instead of using My Gov. It is much easier, I was told and it is if using mobile devices; open the app and you're in. Whereas MyGov doesn't have an app per se, you have to use a search engine and to gain access you need to download and install the MyGov code generator app which generates a new code every thirty seconds or so, which you tap to copy then paste into the MyGov mobile access page to gain entry. Following instructions I did this, however you have to allow location services in the setup process. When I did this, there I was, sitting at home on the map for anyone who was checking up on me to see exactly where I was at anytime of the day or night, anywhere in the world, the service opened within the app itself! The app is deleted! MyGov doesn't require this, or if it does use location services it isn't as in your face as the Centrelink app as a stand alone option, but it does allow them to contact us by letter fairly anonymously, anywhere in the world. I regard MyGov as a portal designed to gain access to government services, with "Letter Alerts" sent to our email addressses and access to them via the MyGov Mailbox negating the need to go anywhere near Centrelink unless the letter says they want too see or talk to you. Call me paranoid but, I'm sure it is making it easier for investigators to check up on suspected fraud cases, especially single mums and suspected partners and newstart recipients who might be saying one thing and doing another. Just thought I'd put that out there for member's consideration but again; up to you. Cheers bear Update:- The MyGov Code Generator app on your phone, gives access on all of your devices. No more annoying Code SMS's that expire when life gets hectic and you have to go through the Login Process again. Just leave the code page on your PC open and the app open on your phone. Instant code for access.

Bear - having gone through workers comp I would rather lodge my paperwork at an office or through welfare rights than use apps like that... so if you are paranoid so am I.

Weekly progress report:- In a call to International Services I was advised someone was working on my file; though not in Approvals, Was given a Number to Call to Check on Progress (Senior's Line, 132 300), then was told Portability remains at Twenty Eight days until OAP is Approved. Never mind the Ethics of it, your due date to your entitlements! The Seniors Line advised my Claim had been Escalated, on that day in fact, up two tiers because my Application was a very Complex Case, which not handled correctly could see me with a Massive Debt. They are working on it and hope they can pass it back to Approvals on February 5th. Check MyGov 6th, 7th, 8th February, and give Seniors a Call then, but; if it's still upstairs they won't have anything to tell me, as alledgedly; it's all Secret Squirrel Business up there and they won't be telling Approvals diddely squat. Ah well, mai bpen rai. Cheers bear. mai bpen rai = Never Mind, It's OK

A COMPLEX CASE? ABSOLUTE YOU KNOW WHAT. I would say your name comes up on the screen as i think mine did all those years ago. Tell him anything to get rid of him. Nobody could possibly make this stuff up. See you soon bear or when back in oz next time they will know about it for sure. I will make front page news by whatever means. You deserve a medal by keeping your cool and decorum alone. And massive debt? Then i would have to buy the beer. NO WAY JOSE!

This happened to my DSP claim too Bear...
It could only be a complex claim if you fall outside of the 'standard' criteria... 1. Own a business 2. Have a compensation claim 3. Own a house on more than 5 acres 4. Own an investment property
I think there are a couple of others but if none of those apply i would be contacting either complaints and/or your Federal MP.
I did have a complex claim but until I started contacting them constantly and got an MP involved it went nowhere...
In your case I can't see how you could end up with a 'massive debt'.

Thanks tasjo None of those apply and I don't have any Super either. I'll give them the timeframe given to me, but I suspect it's more to do with nomadic's statement. "I would say your name comes up on the screen as i think mine did all those years ago. " Granted Oct, 2000, Reviewed Dec/Jan 02/03, Advised travel every year since 2008, up to six months and four times a year when applicable. Have only ever received travel letter since 2008, not even an income statement. When doing the online transfer application I checked my profile. Their was really bad incorrect information there, which I tried to correct; self reporting is what they say they want us to do. Except on Disabilities of course. Physically in the office I informed them of the issues and was advised, "All Fixed." Personally I think they dropped the ball with me and are pissed off I fell through the gaps and didn't receive the harassment they now think, I so richly deserved. No joy by timeframe's end, the complaints line and/or my Federal MP for sure. I'd forgotten about them, thanks for reminding me. Cheers bear

I know a member who was in a similar situation to you, he never applied for UP after years in Chiang Mai under the pre-2012 portability rules. He's on the Age Pension now and back in CM but I can't recall if he had any difficulties. Maybe worth asking him.
