sounds like you dialed the wrong number onemore. No chance at lotto though, if not, as all good luck gone for now.

yes, the early crow can be fatal. just watch how many punters say HOME when there horse is in front only to see a flyer pip it on the post. I see it often in the TAB. Home and hosed even more common before i even heard home and dry.

The surest way to waste money there would to be to ask me to go halves in a ticket.

It's a sign of how little faith we have in Centrelink when we celebrate an achievement that is clearly and specifically written into the the Social Security Act.

Hi Bear Congratulations- just asking what you mean when you say you can stay overseas on the OAP for three years without a problem. What problem is after that please? I don’t know of one. Congrats Ann

Congrats Ann Thanks Ann! No I can't seem to find one now either. I thought there was a post here somewhere about three years and they may get pernickety, and I thought I provided a link to DSS Guidelines to that effect but; I can't find it there either. All I can see now is:- Payment Recipient Absence Period Age All Any Unlimited guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/7/1/2/20And as we have members already OS for very long periods on DSP with UP, I guess I was mistaken. Thanks again, bear

Hey bear i missed your new news as i went on a Bkk bus which took 20 minutes. Then on way back almost 2 hours. Only when I saw those saying congrats that I scrolled back and saw you have OAP+UP. So beer is finally well and truly on the agenda. Please Set a date for that in Chiang Mai and maybe a party can even be had where we can send selfies to Satan with us all toasting them with big Leo's. U.P. YOURS! Yes, indeed what a week even if it was many years late. Enjoy the moment and on a flexi drinking Thursday I will take up that option and have one for you tonight in my fav drinking place in the world. Gecko bar Bangkok. Chock Dee bear. Happy days are near again.

Just got my confirmation letter. It states and I quote:- "Please note when you reach Age Pension age your payment is taxable." It seem they never give up, enough is never enough. Does anyone have any info re that please? I don't understand; so stay on DSP without UP and pay no tax or transfer to OAP with UP and pay tax. I'm a little confused; Again! Cheers bear Update:- A call to the ATO sorted it out! While aged pension is Taxable, it is only if you go over the Pensioner Offset; which is up to and including The Full Pension. ATO's music on hold is Light, Airy, Easy Listening; so it would seem Centrelink's intention, really is to drive everyone out of our minds! Damn bureaucracy

Isn't the DSP taxable under those circumstances? I can't see why it would not be so C'link are just stating the obvious. (Surprise surprise).
