Hi manekast Welcome to the forum. I'll try and answer your questions as best as possible. First up if you are going to apply for UP it would be a good idea to apply for your file under the F.O.I act.As this should contain all the information you need in your application, plus anything that Centrelink may wish to use as evidence. Secondly, you will need to have a JCA assessment and be assessed by one of Centrelinks Dr,s before leaving Australia, the qualifying criteria for UP is 20 points on one single table ( read up on the relevant table and make sure you understand everything) Then you will need to be assessed as 0-2 per week for the next 5 years (CITW) Continued inability to work. As far as your Superannuation is concerned, get in touch with your Superannuation company, they will inform you of all the specific requirements. Yes it probably is best that you get assessments from either a Clinical Psychologist/ Psychiatrist as they are both specialists in this particular field Finally be methodical in all your research, leave no stone unturned All the best Itsa Hi Itsa, Ive gotten myself confused again I think, my apologies in advance. I thought it was 0-2 per day not per week or are we not talking about hrs, could you clarify it please, only I'm moving forward soon with UP and I based the hrs on 0-8. Thanks for any help cheers imajica.

Hi manekast, Great to see you decided to join up, welcome to the forum. You seem to have a rather good understanding of everything from what I have just read. I have a very limited understanding of UP so I won't try to clarify any of your queries. I am sure one of the other members who has more knowledge on the topic of UP will be along shortly and will answer your questions for you. Great to have you here. bfbf Hello Manekast, welcome to the forum and best of luck with your application, don't rush it get your ducks all lined up in a row, you have very good advice so far, get a good look at the application forms as suggested by Bear and look at the tables and the rules that are applied to them. CL won't post the rules to you, they will expect you to do all the ground work. I would suggest that a copy of the rules be forwarded to all and any specialists so as to give them some time to assimilate the information. An advocate would be an option also it doesn't hurt to have some extra support in the JCA for example. It sounds like you have good supports in place, Itsa's summation is spot on and is what it is in a nutshell. Good luck and it looks like you may apply before me so All the best. imajica.

Now I'm confused too imagica, daily/ weekly 0-2 hrs per day = 0-15hrs per week, not a Hope. They'll push for a Program to Support (POS) with that many I think. 0-8hrs per week is probably ok to get UP; I think I have read here it has been given on that. O-2hrs per week the most preferable, as itsa has said! A Possible Shoein, Cheers bear

Thanks Bear for that information, I am thinking of applying for the forms just to see what questions are asked, interesting. I've got them somewhere, I'll email them to you if you like, you'll still have to get your own but it will give you an idea.

We had considerable discussion on it when they came out, 0-2 h/w is just foolishness, totally unrealistic... which I think that most assessors realise.

I agree Banjo, it won't stop my submission it will be interesting to indeed see what my assessor whomever that may be demonstrates their particular leanings. Imajica

manekast To apply give International Services a call (131673). The wait times are usually endurable, and ask for application forms for a portability assessment.. There isn't a due date to have them in by. So please take your time,to do your best for a good shot at it. You asked about SE Asia, with UP, you can live wherever you want for as long as you like and move about anywhere, as A Free Person. Nice description for JCA itsa I was running on empty. Cheers bear Thank you for the advice, will be doing this process as meticulously as possible and will post here on the UP board for all to follow. Cheers! Could I possibly get the closed portability forum password PM’d to me? Thanks in advance.

Free person is nice description also bear. While so many others are held illegally in Australia for the crime of being disabled.
