Thailand's pretty good for prices now, everything is marked in the shops and restaurants, the last time I had a large job done on my car they only charged me for the parts.
You are going to get some crime where ever you live, I'm in the famed Golden Triangle and barely a week goes by with out reports of police and smugglers shooting it out in the mountainous border regions. However I've never seen or heard anything personally in the 15 years I've been visiting or living in the region.

Yes, Asia is another world away from Oz and if you haven't been there you never would know. 4 or 5 on a bike with the driver texting will never be seen in Australia just for starters. But when you weigh up all the pro's and cons give me Asia every time whether on a pension or otherwise rich. I often get people to do things for me and when i ask how much they say mai pen lai or no problem.

I live in Biasong Talisay City Denis they should rename it Dodge City Lots of drug-related murders every so often itsmylife08LOL but with sadness re Dodge City. I've been to Talisay a few times because someone I know has a brother from Argao that lives there. Not sure where Biasong is but where I went was on the North side of the road and probably not far from you. First time I went it was good but subsequent times started to become a bit time to be 'situationally aware'. Haven't been back for 2 years now since I heard that a little 'cheeky' bloke that I enjoyed talking with died. Like I inferred above we all have to watch out for ourselves and those we care for. There are parts of most cities in Australia in which I don't feel safe. Maybe like you and others whom are UP we find our little spot and cultivate folk to ignore us!
