I was just wondering if any of you had bothered with healthcare cover wherever you live in Asia, if so how much are you paying and what are you covered for? I just got quoted around $US 5500 per year I'm not even sure that covers me for emergencies, thoughts, please. Regards Itsa. itsmylife08A friend I know covers herself and child via PhilHealth for 200Php/month. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_Health_Insurance_CorporationAND www.philhealth.gov.ph/For myself, as Banjo suggests, I trust to be at least ambulatory enough to taxi to Cebu, wheel chaired onto a flight that will connect me to Australia and when I get there just sit in arrivals whimpering pitifully until they send an ambulance for me. If you have a per-existing condition/s more reason they should treat you!

Link opens nomadic , then you need password to sign in. From what I've seen around the traps; the only hope to get a reasonable premium from one of the approved insurers is to take the maximum deductable available, on the lowest plan available from one particular insurer that allows deductibles. That particular deductable is Bht 300,000. So in effect you have to have that amount available to pay for the first part of treatment before the insurance picks up the rest. If the don't wriggle out of it. I got an online quote the other day myself......Bht 25,000 a year. That's twice as much as my two year one trip travel policy from Oz. Then of course the company rang me. The premium has gone up to Bht 34,000 provisional before I have to pay about Bht 7,500 for a full medical, to see what the final premium will be; but they will take that off of the final premium. It's certainly a dog's breakfast. Cheers bear longstay.tgia.org/longstay.tgia.org/home/guidelineoalongstay.tgia.org/home/companiesoa

I tested the link and it worked for me. Went straight to the actual email. But yep not now. ?? Anyhow the cheapest cover for ex-pats in Thailand was over $1,000. and the most expensive was $8,000. A European based company. The U.K. I think. Will see if I can find it again. I would like to know what the basic covers myself.

I'm guessing your friend is insuring as a matter of course nomadic, not being railroaded because he is here on an O-A visa?? If he's here on an O-A, the only insurance that will be accepted for an "extension of stay" is from the links I posted. Though for a first entry for the first year they'll accept an overseas policy that's been approved by the embassy or if it's accompanied by the TGIA Certificate signed by by directors. Haven't yet heard of anyone getting the certificate signed by Aussie directors, and why would they; it is afterall a Thai government/insurance industry document. Cheers bear.
