I recently paid my yearly rego (with pensioner discount) and my power bill. The reg was for a 6cyl and was $350 (in vic) for the year....my power bill on the other hand was just under $1400 with pensioner discount. Not many providers to choose from in my area, nearly everyone here has similar costs for power in the colder months unfortunately. I would like to have enough spare cash to buy and install a wood heater in the room we use the most so I can save on the power bills but I really can not see that happening anytime soon (bit of a catch 22 really).

That is a decent discount for the rego, maybe now that I am an old fart I will get the same discount next year when my rego is due for my 2003 Holden Commodore. But one question please, seeing I am new to all this, do you have to have a seniors card or some other piece of paper to say that you are an old age person?

onemore you have to present your pension card OAP/DSP, to the relevant authorities to get the discounts. At least that's how they do it in Qld. And the variations in discounts between states is also very telling. Rego:-$600 4cly Qld; $350 6cyl Vic; and according to my NSW sources, OAP'ers only pay Third party insurance. Cheers bear

my power bill on the other hand was just under $1400 with pensioner discount. Shocking! My power bill here is about $450 per quarter but I use the air-con a fair bit overnight for sleeping.

Around $100 a month using the aircon about 8 hours a night. It drops to half that when the weather cools then goes up again when we run a heater.

Maybe winter a couple of years ago when you folk in Thai got all that rain it got a bit cooler than usual. LOL I'll never forget August 2012 when I flew out of the Philippines for 12 months to get UP and I went through Darwin and then transfer to Cairns via Brisbane! It was bloody 7C! Nearly froze.

Most of the electrical shops in the malls sell small heaters. It can get quite cool up here.
