hello ms purple...yes i can leave my house for doctors appointments, and yes i know of skype and i have a mental health care plan, there is no one and i repeat no one here in this town...who seems to know of the magical people who do these skype things for free. Medicare only part pays and i am looking at bills of close to $100 per session with specialist. Being over 55 means all i have to do to qualify for the newstart is volunteer 15 hours a week. I have been trying for nearly 12 months to get this done, it started with mental health at the local hospital (who promptly committed me for 72 hours) ... not to sound ungrateful for the input but i have tried everything that has been stated in this forum.

rambles more than welcome here mate. i often get on my high horse when i get wound up. and your tale has done that once again but i won't go on for now. defies belief what is going on in the once lucky country. hang in and you will get it back with right evidence. plus back pay.

How long ago was your AAT 1 refusal Mark?
The only other thing I can think is to go to AAT 2 if it was within the last month and have your GP and an advocate give evidence that it is not possible for you to get an appropriate diagnosis.
AAT 2 is a more formal process and you should be able to get an advocate to attend with you for both the conferences and hearing and being able to present your case to a hearing where your doctors present evidence may be beneficial for you. It may be possible for you to request assessment by a centrelink psychiatrist but I dont know how feasible this is either.
Have you had a look at the AAT2 findings to see if there are any claims granted without a psychiateist or clinical psychologust diagnosing?
Skype consultations thst are bulk billed may be more likely with a specialist linked to a main hospital. Would one of your children in Brisbane possibly check if this is possible?

An advocate can attend appointments with you and any appeals. They can also communicate with any doctors on your behalf and may also be able to source some resources if you know what you need. I'm not aware of needing to be on NDIS to get an advocate, however they may only be able to step in at certain points - for me it was AAT 2 - but its worth looking into.

www.dana.org.au/queensland/This is the link for advocacy organisations in Qld, I'm not sure which would be closest to you and what services they offer but its a place to start.

Hi, mildlymeek.
Have you considered searching for public housing swaps? There are quite a few facebook groups and some websites that offer this free service. Take some photo's of your place and request a swap with someone in Brisbane. Or look at existing offers.
best of luck.
muggins.
ps. I have about 15 years to wait for nsw public housing in a city area.

Sorry to hear of your situation Mildlymeek, it sounds like your between a rock and a hard place. You mentioned a 72 hour hospital stay in one of your posts, I would think that when you were in hospital you would have been assessed or treated by a psychiatrist or mental health professional? Can you request your medical records from the hospital or your discharge summary? This could really help confirm your diagnosis with a dsp appeal/new application. Also do you know if you have been approved for a wait turn or priority public housing transfer? Priority will have you at the top of the list and you would be rehoused much much faster.
