I had a day to kill in Sydney airport once before my international flight and got a $12 daytrip ticket for the train, this also covered ferry travel so I went across the harbour to Manly and spent a couple of hours at the beach. Brisbane has the same type of thing for Concession Card holders. Not sure of costs; but covers Train, Ferries & Buses. The trains will get you to anywhere between the Sunshine & Gold Coasts, and west to some where in between. The River Cats are great for stopping of at parks etc. too. Cheers bear

bus trips can be terribly expensive. A few years ago I wanted to go from Perth to Exmouth and it was $700.00 so i didn't go. Flights were almost the same. Although in N.S.W. i think those on health care cards can get train and bus trips for $5.00. I got from Albury to Canberra for $5.00 a few years ago. Agree about cost of Bus Trips nowadays nomadicI actually did do that Perth to Exmouth (return) trip back in January 2011 but it was about $350. I think it was on a special of some sort or I got it on a Pensioner type deal. Might have even booked through WA Railways. Can't remember but I know the full fare was up there with what you say. Mind you, I was a resident of WA at the time. I was actually meant to go prior to Christmas 2010 but they had massive flooding from a cyclone that didn't abate till, maybe, mid January 2011. I'm not sure of current situation but most States used to have an annual cheap rail fare. Many years ago an old mate got me a Pensioner ticket (I was on Newstart or whatever it was called) from Townsville to Brisbane on the rail line. Now that is a trip I would recommend to anyone because you see stuff you wouldn't normally see from Road.

Thanks for the reminder Denis-NFA I've posted it before but on Qld Rail, a $25 one way ticket, from Cairns - Brisbane or vice versa can be used over a three months period. Hop off, have a look around for a few days, visit old friends, hop back on! Turn around, do it all the other way, six months taken care of. You'd need to check current fare rules to be on the safe side before starting out though. Cheers bear.

That's the one bear. I had a fantastic trip and stayed awake the whole way and just talked and listened to many different fascinating people. One old bloke wanted me to come to Tin Can Bay but I said I didn't have time and I've regretted it ever since.

Alright I'll have a look at applying for U.P
If you don't get it can you still get DSP or do they remove you from it.
If I get U.P does that mean my carer will too?

I hope banjo and bear will give you 100% certain info but i believe that if you were granted DSP before 2012 you may risk being reviewed and losing it and that's why we all said to get your file under freedom of info especially if it was before 2012 when the harsher rules come into play. If after 2012 you should be fine. But tread carefully as always as they are heartless as we all know. As bear said, check with your doctor to see how many points you get. it's all about numbers sadly.

Alright I'll have a look at applying for U.P If you don't get it can you still get DSP or do they remove you from it. If I get U.P does that mean my carer will too? Unfortunately as nomadic says, it's a numbers game. 20 points on one table, 0-2hr work capacity and no improvement for 5 years "should" see you get UP. Your file will help you determine whether or not it's worth the risk; as there is a possibility you could lose your DSP. But, you have mentioned having a carer so your chances for UP are most likely better than someone who doesn't have one. Maybe they could make a call to International Services for you to ask about it. Having been reviewed in 2016 and keeping the pension is a good sign! Do you know how many tables you are assessed under and the points given? FOI will tell you this! I don't know about carers UP unfortunately, they already get more portability than a DSPer and if you require them, maybe if you have UP and choose to go OS long term, they'd have to be allowed to go as well. From memory, if a carer gets posted OS for work, the DSPer get extra time away as well, without applying for UP. Cheers bear International Services:- 131673

Oh I found the form:
What do I request on the form in the description. Do I just write Disability Support Pension and Disability Support Pension Review.
And then do I hand it in to Centrelink

Oh I found the form: What do I request on the form in the description. Do I just write Disability Support Pension and Disability Support Pension Review. And then do I hand it in to Centrelink If you mean the form for FOI; ask for either your complete file, or your file from xx/xx/xxxx to the current date. This is what I asked for, which covered the period from when I was let go from my employment due to a major accident to receiving my OAP. i.e. From July 1993 to January 2018. A timeline of pertinent events in your life is what to ask for! DSP Grant & DSP Review should definitely be asked for to get the relevant information. They rang me a few times telling me they couldn't find documents, asking for further information; but they were quite friendly and approachable. If you are unable to do it online, hand it in! It may take a little longer, as it will have to get from your local office to FOI Dept. before they start. Cheers bear

I just got to check the FOI files on me first.
But having not heard one story of someone getting their DSP cut sounds like it's worth a try.
Do the interview really matter that much. I reckon it's more so the doctors report.
I've also worked before whilst on the DSP which could against me but always struggled to hold down a job
