I was back in Australia for the 2 year waiting period. I called Centrelink about temporary leave. They said no problem , just advise them of the dates , you want to go . They stop your pension for the period of absence. I left 3 times in my 2 years. 3 weeks , 5 weeks & 10 days. Pension was restarted as soon as I got back.the first time I got back , I decided to call Centrelink to let them know. I arrived Brisbane airport 9.00am was home by 10.15 am. Called Centrelink to let them know I was back. They ALREADY knew..I am now back in Philippines since October 2017 & having no problems with payments from Centrelink. Hope this helps.

I was chatting to a bloke in Centrelink one day long long ago when he said oh I see you've just returned, I said so you know yes of course we do, here have a look he said turning his monitor around for me to have a look.
Sure enough, they had details of all my arrivals and departures dating back to the early Eighties.

Whether ordinary Australians know it or not but the 'Gubmint' has an extraordinary ability to find out all manner of things about an individual. Even so called 'private business' is subject to some form of 'Gubmint' oversight by virtue of laws.

Sadly I suspect the overwhelming majority are blissfully ignorant of government sneaking into their personal lives! Afterall; in general conversations even amongst peers, who you'd think would know better; how many times have you been told similar to this, "You're being paranoid mate, our government doesn't do stuff like that. That's for the commies and dictatorships." Just sayin', cheers bear.
