ABC’s Q&A disability special is on tonight! Don’t forget to tune in with all of us at 9.35pm AEST on ABC. It’s going to be an important and interesting conversation and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
While you watch, join in a live conversation with the Every Australian Counts community on Twitter by following us
Follow us on twitter We know that politicians always tune in to Q&A. They might not be on the panel but we still want them to hear what we have to say.
So here’s the plan:
Log in to Twitter Write your tweet Copy and paste this line on the end of your tweet before posting: #qanda @dantehanwannon @australianlabor @jordonsteele @everyaustraliancounts That way we can make sure Minister for Social Services Dan Tehan, Shadow Minister for Social Services Jenny Macklin and Greens Senator Jordon Steele John all get a chance to hear what you have to say. And by tagging Every Australian Counts we can also make sure we don’t miss hearing from you either.
Join the conversation on Twitter during Q&A and together we can make sure our voices are heard loud and clear.
We all know Q&A will be asking some big questions about the NDIS tonight, but they won’t have time to ask or answer everything. So, together, the Every Australian Counts community can keep the conversation going.
And if you don’t use Twitter don’t worry – we will post a summary of how things went later on the Every Australian Counts website.
So don’t forget - switch on Q&A on ABC at 9.35 tonight and share your thoughts.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
The Every Australian Counts Team

I'm all set to watch nomadic Only 45minutes to go! I had a look at the Q&A website earlier; there was a list of 200 possible questions, most referred to NDIS. Cheers bear

I was trying to live stream it and only got to about the ten minute mark; the government apologist was in full flight, then he wasn't. Will probably try again tomorrow with iView. I reactivated a VPN subscription that's still good for a few months and it worked fine for two hours this arvo. Cheers bear

Quick Summary:- We all need to/must (being spoken down to get again by disabled panel) focus on our abilities in our disabilities, and make the most of what we have to be productive members of society.
Never thought I'd say it but, poor ol' Centrelink is now the blame of the failings in the NDIA & NDIS because they are administering both of them.
Never mind the father of the scheme, Mr Bonyhard, tells us it was underfunded in the last financial year in the tens of million dollars and this year will be underfunded by $700m-$1.5-7bn. That's billion!
Small mention of mental health and how many people with issues will be helped. From memory about 63,000 but only when the NDIA admins figure out which is more worthy; Schizophrenia or Bi Polar.
So all in all much ado about nothing IMHO, just a talkfest about the scheme from the who's who of the disabled elite in the disability sphere; but if anyone has a different take please share it. Cheers bear

That's how i summed up the ten minutes i saw. Utter waste of time. Patronising crap at best. Let all those who want to get out, get out and that will save $billions.

I watched the whole lot and right now can't really find the words to summarise how I thought it was.

I think what shocked me the most was the amount of references to enabling the disabled to function in the same way as able bodied, that there don't need to be adjustments made...
While I agree that for some disabled this is true for those on the panel... Making workplaces accessible, deaf and blind adjustments etc... But what about those who have chronic conditions and the adjustment needed is to hours. Those who need either partial or full DSP and have had to give up a career because no employee will touch them when they aren't reliable.

Quick Summary:- We all need to/must (being spoken down to get again by disabled panel) focus on our abilities in our disabilities, and make the most of what we have to be productive members of society. Their aim is to conveniently ignore & downgrade any disability as much as is possible, while trying to use any usage that's left in people which is equal to, or close to being in SLAVERY. At the same time, they are trying to make feel anyone worthless/useless/unworthy, because they are unable to work & participate, as they have enough on their plate, as it is.

Not wanting to be a spoil sport but the name of the game with the Tories has always been Divide & Conquer! This episode of A & A is a prime example of the strategy.
Another is the rise of the internet and social media! There are untold groups out there complaining about the the same things, but there's no cohesion anymore. Everyone's pushing their own barrow; including US!
How to overcome it is the question that needs to be answered, and until it is, the government wins. Cheers bear

sadly bear the entire Australian culture has been manipulated from a great one to a horrid one during my time. I could list hundreds of things that have been changed by stealth by the politicians. Everything that was great has now been changed to a culture of greed by the greedy and the poor are no hoppers. From low paid but still happy sports people now getting $millions. Woman playing Aussie rules, 200 races a day to now bet on along with pokies in every pub, dogs must be on a leash when they were previously free to roam. All only small things on there own but add them all up and they have destroyed that once great culture. General mangers on good pay have become CEO's on $millions as they sack workers. I could go on and on. Nobody sleeping in the streets 50 years ago and now hundreds of thousands and "THEY" never ask why. Just say they are no good and try to find a remedy rather than a cure. The only cure is to go back to 50 years ago.And that aint gunna happen. So we have no hope. They have forced everyone to be selfish like them and look after number one is all we can do in general. No one slagged off the disabled or unemployed like they do today. OK, that's my rant which can be summed up like all the worlds problems in one word. Politicians.

After i just finished the above post i was listening to ABC news. A story about Burmese generals being charged of genocide over the Rohingya atrocities. This army has been butchering people unabated since 1990. Then they said Amnesty international wants Australia to stop the $300,000 a year assistance it gives to the Burmese army. If none of my above convinces you of how evil politicians are then this is 100% proof. They should also be up for human rights abuse at the highest level ever. Nazi, Pol Pot, Rwanda and now Australia. I'm often flabbergasted by what i see on the forum but never more so than this news item. So what hope the disabled?
