Sleeping with a good strong fan keeps them off.
The ankles and wrists are targeted areas, where the skin is thinnest, so apply a good layer of repellent.

problem with fan only here is that you go to sleep and electricity goes off.

It's not just Malaria in Thailand....Dengue can lay you low, and I know someone who knows a Chinese lady here in Oz who went to Thailand with her husband. He got bitten by a mossie in Northern Thailand and got Japanese Encephalitis, fell into a coma, was hospitalized here in Oz for 6 months, but his organs shut down and he died, just recently. A lightweight mossie net is the go...but as the Chinese guy was affluent, I think he would have been staying in good hotels and got bitten while out somewhere.

i have had dengue twice in last 5 years so well aware of epidemic but not heard of anyone getting malaria for many years and was always someone with it years ago. Jap en is worst all all though. No real need to die from malaria or dengue if you get to hospital fast enough. Most die because they just stay in bed at home thinking they have the flu.In the small town i am in there is currently 20 with Dengue and paper said 60 had it in a small town just outside Bangkok with 3 deaths.

but when power is off which can be any time here and often the mozzies come out to feast. my problem is not so much inside but rather outside. unless you put on repellent 365 days a year you will get bit. A Burqua perhaps?

TG they are few and far between nowadays. We have the rechargeable bulbs and fans as its absolutely necessary with the little baby when the power goes off

It appears we go through the same trials nomadic service has improved greatly over the past few years, but when you least expect it wham you're hit with the sucker punch. My biggest complaint is if you have frozen foods like meat etc which can go off inside a few hours or has to be used up you know the story blah blah. The routine excuse from VECO is that not enough power has been generated so hence the need for cuts/ sharing the load. We live in I guess what you would call a Satelite City Talisay which is about 30mins from Metro Cebu. That's my rant for today so do have a good one God bless Itsa
