I may have agreed at one time but now you can give me Thailand, Laos or Cambodia, not to mention my best of all in "Scary" Muslim Malaysia of the handful I have spent time in. Only someone who has spent a lot of time in every country can say which is the best. That means no one. And the only three places in the world I could never ever live in are in Oz. Kalgoorlie, Coober Pedy and Darwin. with the latter good for a few days but the other 2 never again once visited as fascinating as they are as a tourist. www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-09/australia-talks-national-survey-best-country-in-the-world/11564178

Thats a tough one Nomadic. I think ive heard the saying, you should judge a country based on its prison system, in which case we are pretty good, i imagine, with the exception of some nordic countries. If i was raising a kid i think Australia is where i'd want them educated. But we have our problems too, im not denying that. It depends what factors you are looking at. Are we the best?, I dont think it should be a competition in that way, are we the coolest legends on the planet, well thats an obvious "yes". Sorry other countries, but we all know it's true.

I would have no hesitation in saying that Australia is the best country in the world why? Well for a start we have the best beaches and the most beautiful women Howszatt for starters. An excellent education system my kids were educated here and both have done very well for themselves ( Computer Programmer and a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon ) Sorry for bragging but I'm very proud of them both.
The health care system is World Class and saved my life for which I'll be eternally grateful, even when I'd fallen on hard times and had to be admitted words could not express my gratitude to the wonderful staff at the RBH Royal Brisbane Hospital for taking care of me so well, strange to say but I actually used to look forward to being admitted. A special mention also goes to the Prince Charles Hospital where I had my operation ( CABG )
The climate lends itself to more outdoor activities than you could poke a stick at Beaches, Footy, Rugby, Cricket,( Horse Racing Fine Cotton) oops that was in Queensland lol. and many many more pleasurable activities.
I don't want to touch on the negative aspects we all know what they are, let's keep this thread positive I for one still believe we have the best country in the World.
Itsa
A very Proud Australian.

The majority of people love their country and say it is the best. We all can't be right. It comes down to everybody wanting what's best for them under any given circumstances. Ignorance is bliss as they say. Even poverty-stricken unemployed probably would be horrified at the thought of living in Asia. So Thailand is the best for me currently. But things may change. More problems in Thailand than Australia obviously but not for poor OZ pensioners. But if you haven't been to a country then how can anyone say Australia or anywhere else is best. Based on news reports all Iranians want to kill us when reports from people who have been there saying the opposite. Friendliest people on earth. Glad I was lucky to be born in OZ but that's about all. And if it was the best when I was a kid it certainly has gone backward since.
