So there is another 199,998 disabled who need this forum. Who'd be a busy bear then? But not as busy as the AAT. Imagine if every one of them appealed tomorrow. We can only dream. The thing is nomadic , I personally think the majority believe in Centrelink and the government, and haven't got any idea about their options. That was me twelve years ago. Most just go with the flow unless it really hits home like WTF, how, when, why, you what, changed the rules; this can't be right, this is Australia! And then they might find their way here, where they learn to their shock and horror; yep it's right alright, and finally see what Australia has become. Cheers bear

And that's what the politicians prey on. Just tell you things with no explanations and most believe what they say. I used to also. I now know from personal experience they ALL tell lies 100% of the time. And fob you off if they can't lie the truth. I could write a book on it all.

Hi all, thanks for your reply. My question is: if I return to Australia, does a 2-year waiting period apply before I regain unlimited portability? So far, this is unclear from the website of Human Resources. If anyone can comment on this, I would appreciate. I will also try to find out directly through the phone service and report here. Thanks.

This is one of banjo's hot under the collar topics so he may know the full answer. From what I understand is that if you have been living overseas under your own finances and you go back to claim the OAP you do need to wait 2 years to get UP. But if OS on DSP UP I have no idea. Logic would say not but Politicians are not logical people.

I do have an online account and apart from uploading my change of bank account details to the Philippines and when I threatened to call the police because some artzhole attributed income to me they have ignored me so now I am getting a fax machine for my computer and be able to fax C/L International direct because you can no longer email them.

I expect they will send me a letter to my Oz address offering me to go on OAP. If so it will be forwarded but I have no desire to wake a sleeping dog. I will deal with it only if/when I hear from them. My gut feeling is that I will stay on DSP but not 100% sure until it happens. Is there any benefit in going on to OAP? None that I currently know of when we already have UP.

I just got my letter offering to transfer to OAP. Unless someone here can tell me why going across is worthwhile I will not be changing. But they say I must let then know either way before the end of the month or my payments may be stopped. What the F? I must tell them my superannuation details if I change also. I DO NOT HAVE ANY YOU *****.

And everyone here knows how they love the bully boy tactics! I've said before....the only reason I changed was to get OAP/UP. I never had any super either......up 2 U; cheers bear P.S. If you have any doubts about your decision, go back and re-read my change over thread......

No, my circumstances haven't changed is my point exactly. I am not changing. But correct, I should not be surprised at anything they do. GROWL.

The only thing that has changed is another birthday has arrived. disabilities still the same. How about you can change if you want to and no reply will mean you are happy on DSP?

I totally agree...... that's common sense. See the problem with that though, remembering who we're talking about. And now we all know definitively; birthdays are definitely a circumstance. Is that the same thing as a happenstance? Cheers bear P.S. Maybe everyone should call on their birthdays to report.....clog up the system.

In the end I just applied for the OAP because it was easier. Out of it they now recognize I live in the Philippines and they have my Australian address as "The Road, Innaloo, WA". Just remember these are some of the smartest people that run these things and is why I think every university nd public school should be bulldozed and the land given to public housing. PS The Road - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road

I especially like the (with quotes results) No results found for "The Road, Innaloo, WA".. Results for The Road, Innaloo, WA. (without quotes): Lilacdale Rd, Innaloo WA 6018, Australia It reminded me of when I first arrived at my current Oz address. None of the roads in the area were named. The rates notices showed all addresses as:- "No name road". I carted that rates notice with me everywhere, just to prove where I actually lived and wasn't taking the mickey. Centrelink, Ergon, DOT etc., then even after seeing the notice some would still want to argue and say we can't use that as an address. They had two options that or my PO Box....but they couldn't use that either. Funny ol' times! Cheers bear

The OAP thingy that comes up truly tells you that there are dire consequences to not replying. They kept shoving at me that I lived in Innaloo WA and I kept telling them not and then I put THE ROAD. Application proceeded after that. CES Innaloo was here in 2010 I applied for Newstart and the lovely older lady that interviewed me asked my full story and she said apply for DSP. Which I did and got it a month later. Funny world
