Years ago I got a regional flight in a small plane. I was the last onboard. When we landed the other four passengers started clapping and cheering. Turned out it was the pilots first solo flight and there had been engine problems before takeoff and they had taken a vote to decide whether or not to fly that day. I was a bit shocked to be fair.

Years ago I used to fly Alitalia, the Italian airline from Australia to Asia as they were the cheapest. Every time they landed people clapped. I believe the Greek airline Olympic also. I think both are now out of business. Never seen it on another airline although Royal Brunei says a prayer before take-off which was a bit of a worry. Although no beer was more of a worry to those who didn't know there wasn't any. Not even at the Brunei airport stopover. Some Aussies were a bit upset starting off on their holidays. Only 5 airlines I think with no alcohol.

Well after some amazingly cheap flights over the years I just got done. A month or so ago I got a promo offer with full service Singapore airlines for the yearly trip back. 17,000 Thai baht which was cheaper than Air Asia or Jetstar. But I had to change the departure date and no promo seats left so had to pay 12,000 baht extra. Turned out to be most expensive ever. So beware promo flights as the fine print can F you. I have changed dates many times, usually for free. But I paid in full first up. Buyer beware as always. And to top it off Jetstar is now half of what they were when I booked. A lucky dip at times.
