I believe some DSP pensioners are eligible for a tax payer funded taxi card membership to receive a 50% discount on taxi fares when using Victoria's Yellow cab taxi fleet.
You guys know anything about this?

Yes I believe this is the case as I know of two people who had them. What information are you after in particular? The requirements to obtain one? Or where to ask about getting one? I am happy to try and help find out if you like

Any information you can get mspurple would be much appreciated.
I was talking to a friend recently and he spoke quite highly of the new tax payer funded NDIS who assisted him with funding for living expenses like a fortnightly in-home cleaning service as well as a new public transport allowance of $67 a fortnight for Myki credits similar to the mobility allowance.
Apparently those on the DSP pension and living in public/community housing due to chronic mental health issues are entitled to a NDIS social worker who organises and allocates funding. My friend said he was given the 50% discount taxi card by his new NDIS case worker who also provided a EFTPOS giftcard style taxi voucher preloaded with $300 worth of taxi fare value to be redeemed at his discretion.
I've met a few DSP pensioners on medication for schizophrenia that have been offered in-home care like regular house cleaner services and assistance from a social worker to drive them to the shops for supermarket shopping all paid for by funding organised by the new NDIS program.

So nice to hear of first hand positive reports on NDIS. There's certainly never any in the MSM......

Each state has a different taxi concession plan I believe.
In Tassie it is linked to both concessions and the disability parking permits through the Transport Assistance Scheme.
I have a card that gives 50% discount on taxis up to a fare of $50, for interstate cabs I get a voucher book.
The concession also provides stamp duty exemption to a vehicle and reduced rego (more reduced than concession).
