Sure does Nomadic, segregation again. Typical LNP divide & conquer sorta thing. Cheers J I seriously considered an appeal to the AAT but after giving it some thought decided that it would more likely result in those expats who received the largess having to repay it rather than it being given to us who did not. That's certainly a tough call Banjo . No one who received the payments set out to deliberately defraud the Commonwealth; unlike some major corporations, who the government seem to be quite happy to let bygones be bygones. What caused the failure?? They have access to all of our comings and goings, right down to the second; so it stands to reason they were well aware of who was in the country and therefore eligible. They stated it often enough; "Pensioners who are in Australia will be eligible for the payment." Legislation allows us to be paid fortnightly into an Oz bank account irrespective of the amount of time away, or monthly into an offshore one. Up to the individual is what the legislation says. Yet it doesn't appear as simple as just not paying RBA payments because; I'm sure we've got members who got the supplements, being paid through that process. Perhaps only in specific currencies though!! I've changed my previous view of a faulty algorithm........ was it simply a case of incomplete manual data entry. They were certainty in a quagmire of new applications from all quarters at the time. Whatever it was, those who missed out deserve to be acknowledged and given the same due consideration as the aforementioned corporate raiders. I'm fully aware I didn't meet the qualifications, so couldn't with a clear conscience hold a grudge against anyone from anywhere who tested the waters, irrespective of any hardship I may suffer because of it. "Oh really; you don't say.....tell you what, since it was the department's blue and you're way too sanctimonious to do the right thing for both sides; howz about you take my best offer of ten bucks a fortnight for the next five years interest free. No?? No wukkers." "Hello.... Gordon Legal...... Cheers bear

What caused the failure?? Incompetance Incompetence was definitely part of the mix. I'm not buying that not one soul, anywhere within the department or it's hierarchy, was unaware of the situation and think they decided to just let it slide, hoping to cause a public division that didn't eventuate; which could be seen by them as an indicator of total subjugation within our sector. Just musin'; cheers bear

Not certain ollie, but I believe if your pension goes into an Australian bank you will get it. If into an overseas one then probably not.

Unless they've upgraded the database on those of us overseas, I tend to agree with nomadic on this one ollie. However I note, unlike the Covid payments, there doesn't appear to be any suggestion of it only being for Pensioners in Australia. That's a politician's answer for sure, so unfortunately it's just wait & see. Cheers bear

Lets see which way the wind blows. BANJOR TOLD ME FEW MONTHS AGO THAT THE LEGISLATION IS REWRITTEN EVERY TEN YEARS REGARDING 2011 IMPAIRMENT TABLE AND 2012 DSP INDEFINITE PORTABILITY AND NO FUTURE WORK CAPACITY. IN 2014 THEY INCREASED THE AWLR FROM 25 YEARS TO 35 YEARS. CAN BEAR AND BANJOR ELABORATE ON THIS PLEASE.

AWLR has been done to death and until there's new legislation written, I'm damned if I know how I can elaborate on anything.!! I suppose I could just make something up like our current prime minister does all of the time, then say I didn't post that; someone must've hacked my forum account. They've deferred rewriting that legislation for another year. Go to the link, click on red writing 'Sunset Informationtion' to see it. Is there any particular reason you're feeling the NEED TO SHOUT?? Shouting in a PM is one thing; shouting on the open forum is what can only be termed as skating on thin ice, if you get my drift. Is it a matter of life or death? The stress of worrying about it may kill you. If you don't get it then forget about it. If you do have a beer and a bet to celebrate. Enjoy either way.
