Welcome back Denis. I have to say I've learn't from reading your posts. Philippines is a nice place to live, my mother was born here. Cheap cost of living here compared to back home in Australia. The pension certainly goes alot further here that's for sure. Exchange rates arn't the best at the moment but even then you can still get alot more goods and services than back home. I read that the USD is going to stregthen and surge against the PHP with the Fed's next interest rate rise in September and it stated that alot of Filipino families have turned to keeping their money in the U.S. You gotta take the good with the bad i suppose and make the most of it with the good going.
Cheers
J

I am back in Australia to visit family, I found a room to stay for $250 a week, which includes power and water and has a small kitchen, but seriously I don’t know how people survive that are on pension it is bloody expensive and I am only shopping for one.
I don’t own a car anymore so just walk everywhere.
This is the lucky country no more.
There is a Prime Minister hell bent on destroying the population.
So sad.

Onemore that's unreal! Here in Iloilo City I pay $275 Dollars per month utilities included for a furnished studio unit pretty much smack bang in the CBD. (3 minute walk to Mega World's Festive walk) It's like the Makati of Iloilo. There's no hope in hell Ide go back home unless I won the lotto. Mind you UP/IP for a poor disabled bloke like me was like winning the lotto.
Cheers

Commiserations, Nomadic...but least you can still walk to exercise ! Twelve weeks ago, I myself tripped on some broken concrete at home, fell heavily and broke my collarbone badly at the end...in fact tore the two ligaments that hold it on there. Now Orthopedics tell me I need an operation to insert a plate, screw, and flexible tether (made out of ultra strong material) as my collarbone kind of floats at the end. I've put them off a couple of times already, but can't sleep on that side (and I am a side-sleeper). I don't look forward to this operation. Then three days ago I dropped a really heavy, thick-base cook pot on my foot and fractured a metatarsal...the long bone inside the foot leading down to the toe... for my second smallest toe. Oh, how I laughed ! Age seems to be just one insult on top of another. Aaargh ! No Latin dance for a few weeks. not sure why i liked that LD. Maybe because you make me feel like a wimpy sook. i have always said; there is always someone better off than you and worse off". seems you are the latter this time. take care. no op for me needed luckily as was a clean break. but now I know what losing an arm is like. will it get me more points and a bigger DSP? P.S. You did upstage me lol and I can't walk far either as cannot do up my shoelaces on my own and tried sandals but got blisters on longer walks. woe is me. clink couldn't break me but this has. Temporarily only I hope. Eating lots of sweet things to cope. now addicted to Werthers candy. so sad.

So Argao's starting to look like a Fixed Address then Denis-NFA . Depending on one's personal interpretation of what a fixed address means of course. Cheers 🐻

Nomadic, you could always get a shoe horn and shoes you can just lever yourself into with it. Seriously. Or get someone to tie your laces just right....not too tight and not too loose....and then leave them tied up and lever yourself into them, one-handed, with the shoe horn. I had weeks doing things one-handed and after the operation will have to do it all again....argh ! But because of the stitches, I won't be able to get my shoulder wet in the shower. Argh, again ! I hate not being able to wash my hair...it gets itchy. Maybe if I tie a big plastic sheet around my neck and on one side ?.... As your bone is healing slowly....I would recommend taking some vitamin D tablets. Many people are deficient and there has been a lot written about this in the last few years....just Google it. You have to be a little careful as it is a fat soluble vitamin and it is possible to take too much, but having said that, I think it would take some time to overdose....it's just wise to keep it in mind.

Welcome back Denis_NFA, good to see you back I'm still here in Australia, will be for another couple of years now I think (at least) while my daughter finishes schooling. Ironically I think I could qualify for IP easier now though... would love to go but do need to consider her finishing to yr12.

But Google can't make time go faster though and at my age I don't want it to anyhow. My personal gym trainer just got back from England so hoping he can help with a few things. woe is us.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll put the new fangled waterproof dressings on there for you LD. I was most impressed with them, just being able to jump into the shower at will, whilst having wounds variously, sternum to below navel, groin to calf.
There's a question to put to them before pulling the op trigger..... Cheers 🐻

Google may not be able to do that nomadic but I found going back to Oz can definitely slow it down, then coming home time definitely speeds up..... all things considered & compared. Unbelievable; I was over there for six months that felt like forever. Now I've been back for five months and it feels like I came only yesterday. Cheers 🐻
