Had lunch with my mate today who retired early in Thailand on part super, about $20K pa. Never bothered about Centrelink, too much trouble even though his wife is an Australian resident. She might be but the Tax office just informed him he's not. Please pay 29 cents on EVERY dollar from now on.
Edit: Oh, and he's just found out about the 2 year residency qualification for the OAP if he thinks he can come back and claim that when he's old enough.

From what I hear you can stay on DSP and don't have to change over to OAP, anybody else hear this story.

This is possible and might be an option for someone on the DSP with Unlimited Portability.
Personally I'll go on the OAP as soon as I qualify.
