You can now maintain your own health and medication records online via: www.ehealth.gov.au or phone 1800723471 The DHS will have access to these files, and you give permission to any health professionals to view or add to them. Online or phone requires Medicare Card and Medicare receipt for corroboration. Offline: visit a DHS Service Centre with 100 points I.D. KEEPING ALL THIS AT THE CLICK OF A BUTTON MAY HAVE MAJOR ADVANTAGES FOR ANYONE APPLYING FOR, OR BEING REVIEWED FOR, THE DSP. All your clinical information and a shared health summary written by your healthcare professional always at the ready.

Im not quite sure what would be added here. Is this just a list of appointments made with doctors over previous years ? Or would there be details of visits, medications etc applied for under the Medicare system ? Ok i see theres a learning center,....damn, its going to take ages and even longer as my internet connect here is prehistoric. Anyone read it and find out how far back they go ?

I doubt your eHealth online record will contain much old info, but you are entitled to add your own personal notes to it. However, once registered, every single (subsidized) prescription from any medical professional will be entered automatically. Every hospital visit and treatment will be recorded. So all Medicare data, organ and tissue donation legacy, an emergency contact doctor who manages your "Chronic Condition Care Plan". It is really for individuals with complex medical needs, like us DSPers I would say.
Lets face it, if you transfer to a new GP, he/she may obtain your files from your old GP. Not likely to bother though (analogue data entry work is a waste of time for them) . . . my new GP is already connected to their system Check that your GP uses a computer for all filings. Obviously, after a couple of years on their system Centrelink will not have to have you fill in a Med Review Form and run around like a monkey for their clerks. Click.

I just registered on the National eHealth Record system. I already had an Australia.gov.au account linked to Centrelink and Medicare. On my Australia.gov.au account there is an application link for this new eHealth account. They simply used my existing Medicare online account as I.D. So, no sweat. Took a minute. Faster than having to show I.D. once again.
When I opened my new personal eHealth page I found the recent records from my GP. Obviously, when he logged in his Care Plan for me, this info went straight onto my personal record. So other than a few prescriptions not a great deal on there, and certainly no old stuff from my hopeless former GP.
Pensioners who can go online may benefit from a central Australia.gov.au account . . . it provides an alternative way to access all your Fed files . . . but still allows you to log onto Centrelink or any linked account separately.

BH, you have my undying admiration if you got through that in a minute, I gave up when I couldn't remember the date of my last doc visit. I have an Australia.gov.au account.

Banj: I'm pretty sure you'll find your last doctors appointment and such at your Aussie Govt A/c; cant remember exactly what was there, but will check it again tomorrow big fella! I will definitely register for this EHealth thing at Aussie Govt also, because being memory/brain deficient, I need to keep all my ducks lined up in one place; or I'll have to hire an "Administrator" to keep them in line:)) Cheers Team.... Cheetal.
