To All Aussie Pensioners.
This board started when a small group of Aussie Disability Support Pensioners decided that being told by Centrelink where they could and couldn’t live and how long and how frequently they could travel wasn’t good enough. As free Australians we wanted the rights of every other citizen.
Since that time we’ve attracted other pensioners struggling with bad bureaucratic decisions, others have applied for pensions and consider they have been unfairly refused. Our aim now is to lend a sympathetic ear, to put everyone’s stories together, to advise where we can and to try to point people in the right direction.
We are not political, if you have a problem with the ALP or the Liberal Party, take it to them, not us.
We are not here to take on the Australian Government and their minions like Centrelink in a full frontal attack; we are not at the moment qualified to do so and may never be. We are here to tell them, “you are wrong, pensioners have the same rights as anyone else and if you want to deny them to us you’d better have a pretty good reason”.
We have three Facebook pages, DSPoverseas, The Australian Pensioners Union and Australian Pensioners. At the moment they are mainly used to direct people to our forum.

While all are welcome to read the forum, in fact that is it's principle purpose, it would be appreciated if guests wishing to comment registered as members first. This would give them the great privilege of receiving banjo's regular newsletter, keeping you up too date with changes in the pensions and Centrelink's regulations.

Lol, hey I am nearly 50! I have 12 years before I have Centrelink pushing me around on the old age pension. Gotta teach them to behave before I get there! I did find something very useful last night, going through some paperwork. I think I had managed to extract the phone number for the Health Professionals Advisory Unit, before Centrelink denied me the right to contact them. I meant to ring it today, and if it is their number, I will post it here, and everyone who has been the victim of corrupted JCA's can start phoning them and complaining or demanding to be referred to them. Also, once I had stumbled across the Impairment Ratings Table online. I looked through it and bookmarked it. Later, the page was no longer there. I just searched again and cannot find it. Seems they have hidden it from viewing, by those it affects the most. I learnt to play their own games against them, they really don't like it. I now know their proceedures better than half of their staff. In fact, their online services' tech support unit even wrote to me asking for help once, lol. And yet, When On-Q Human Resources couldn't find me a job other than cleaning motel rooms, and the JCA and SSAT determined that I could work 15-22 hours at a console in a service station, they were all stunned at my letter of complaint writing abilities, flawless spelling and typing, and my ability to research and understand their laws. The JCA had written that I had stated I had moderate reading and writing skills. I knew it to be a lie, as I would never have stated that, as English and writing were my best subjects. I have even had a few things published. Their statement was designed to assist the employment agencies to claim I was suitable for any low level job they could find for me. Hugs to all you 'old fellas'.

Are you grandfathered? If so there's a few people would be interested see see what happens if you return to the home soil. You may find yourself on the 13 week portability rule again.
edit: Ah no, you're not, I remember you now. Well if you decide to go back and stay in Asia you'll have 13 weeks pension then another 13 weeks to make your mind up before they cut you off. What are your teaching skills like?

Welcome to the board Adrian. I wouldn't worry to much if you're already on the Old Age Pension, I think there's far to many people in your situation for the government to risk messing around with. We started this forum in response to what the government thought was a pretty easy attack on a couple of hundred people, there's a hell of a lot more living abroad on the OAP.

If you've been returning every 13 weeks and you're still on the DSP then you're a resident in Centrelink's eyes. I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't move onto the OAP.
