Have the money for the partner visa already. Will be submitting in Bangkok tomorrow. If the partner visa is rejected on whatever grounds.... will be selling home in Australia and setting up some sort of income in thailand. Australia has gone absolutely insane.

You shouldn't have any visa probs with a child involved. The new crackdown on portability and residency is totally inexplicable.

About the partner visa if you were to bring your girlfriend from overseas to Oz for a holiday, how would that affect your pension?

It wouldn't, if Centrelink knew all about her they would already have made a decision on your pension.
If she was "just a friend" then they wouldn't need to make a decision would they?

MD what steps have you taken to try and plead your case? Banjos idea is a good one because in the DSP system your just a number but your MP is more likely to treat you as an individual assuming his not swamped with similar cases

Keeping a low profile has been my aim with centrelink as I really had to fight them to even get the DSP. Lost my appeal, was about to go to court when centrelink rep rang to say the were giving me the pension.
Anyways, went to Bangkok, submitted the partner visa application. They sighted original documents then stamped the copies to certify them as true copies, i was worried about that as Thailand people just self certify. Cost 89,700 baht. ($2900 at todays exchange rate, baht has been getting stronger lately which is a real pain) Had to redo my forms as i had old forms from last year. They gave me a clean copy of the forms, told me to get them photocopied at my expense, and give back the originals to them. Stingy lol.

Had you been to any of the tribunals? In your case you would need ask your MP to help you getting your partner to Australia but you appear to already have the process under way.
