I'm sorry nomadic but I'm at the stage where I'm finding it difficult to comment; on a lot of things really! The lines are so blurred.....is it political, is it welfare related, does it fit with the ethos of the forum. No, not your post..... everything in general. Cheers bear Thank you bear It can be so depressing reading some of this stuff that is going on. Sometimes just remember dspoverseas.proboards.com/post/62902/threadCheers Denis-NFA.....it is indeed a wonderful world. The natural wonders that is; sunrises & sets, gentle breezes, smells, birdsong, thunderstorms etc. etc.; another member reminded me similarly only recently. Thank you too, bear

Yes, I very rarely smile these days apart from at 5.00 p.m. 3 days a week. Even when I do the same on Flexi days I growl at myself later for being weak/enjoying. But growling seems to be the way of the world currently. All because of POLITICIANS ONLY. But yes it is a wonderful world when you get $400.00 a week and can easily live on $100.00. Even losing 100% of my TAB budget on the horses makes no difference. How wonderful is that? You can only try and make the best of what you have. If only those above would allow everyone to do it. Why are some of us just lucky. It should never be based on luck or being tortured before you get "lucky".

No nomadic, it should be based on equality. I read an article recently about exactly how much one billion dollars is. It's seem to be a helluva lot more than what is normally thought. Like totally way off the scale. Truly staggering! The bottom link isn't to the article in question, though it will give you the drift. I think they are using American Billions not the old UK billions. There is a little difference; in USA it is one thousand million, in UK it was one million million. The old UK meaning of a billion was a million million, or one followed by twelve noughts (1,000,000,000,000). The USA meaning of a billion is a thousand million, or one followed by nine noughts (1,000,000,000). ... The UK government has been using the American meaning of billion since 1974 for the numbers it gives out. www.plainenglish.co.uk › budget Who wants to save to become a billionaire?Ok, you don't win the lottery and decide to get the money the old-fashion way - you are going to save it. How long would it take for you to become a billionaire? Start saving now, because if you could save $100 a day, it would take you 10 million days to save up 1 billion dollars. That's 27,387.26 years. abc7news.com/finance/$1-billion-by-the-numbers/4536991/

Very good. Maybe I could lose it over the spring carnival. But if it was 67 miles high how do you get to the top to get it?

Cash-strapped disability support groups warn of service cuts
Cash-strapped support providers fear being forced to stop offering critical services such as transportation to thousands of Australians with disabilities, the nation's peak disability services body has warned. An independent report commissioned by National Disability Services (NDS), which surveyed 667 Australian disability support providers, found more than half would have to reduce the quality of services under the current pricing model for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. NDS acting chief executive David Moody said among the services at greatest risk of being cut were home modifications for people with disabilities and transportation assistance. "This means people with disabilities simply may not be able to get to and from the services they desperately need," he said. The State of the Disability Sector report, released on Wednesday, also found almost one-third of Australian disability service providers reported a loss of income in last financial year, while only about 10 per cent broke even. The NDS, which represents about 1000 non-government providers, is calling for a national mental health strategy to be rolled out to stop those with disabilities and mental illnesses from falling through the cracks. The group is also lobbying for viable employment models for people with disabilities, less bureaucratic red tape, more flexibility and a fit-for-purpose pricing model. The survey found only 6 per cent of organisations that provide supported employment services for people with disabilities believed the NDIS model was working, while fewer than one-quarter of respondents felt the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) had a "high level of respect for service providers". "We’re calling for an urgent conversation with the federal government to review NDIS prices and processes to ensure people with disabilities get the support they need when and where they need them," Mr Moody said. "The backlog in processing plans is a serious problem. It is leaving many providers around Australia significantly out of pocket because they’ve chosen to continue providing services, without payment, to support people with disability." On Monday the federal government unveiled changes to the NDIS in a push to improve flexibility and address concerns plaguing the program. NDIS Minister Stuart Robert announced the "practical changes" after conceding last week some participants were disappointed with the scheme, but he maintained it was on track to cover 500,000 people within five years. One key change will allow for longer plans for participants, enabling them to be covered for up to three years without a review. Plans outline a person's needs and goals, to be supported under NDIS funding. Earlier this year the NDIA said it took its responsibility for price-setting seriously and had established a Pricing Reference Group to help service providers with funding to support their clients. The NDIA has been contacted for comment. www.smh.com.au/national/cash-strapped-disability-support-groups-warn-of-service-cuts-20191119-p53c1l.htmlm.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2520655254871160&id=1415019052101458

I've lost track of how many times I've seen that quote at the end of articles.
I'm also so over how cash strapped all of theses government funded private agencies who do little in the big scheme of thing anyway; claim to be. Oh please; just give us more money and we'll make everything right. Balderdash! Though in hindsight it will work for individual citizens. Just give us all more money! Cheers bear

It seems to me that the NDIS is working out just as planned.
Destroy all the State based and financed volunteer organizations who used to also do a lot of fund raising off their own bat and create a monolithic HUGE Commonwealth Govt "Agency" to run it all and have the Federal Politicians doling out the money instead of State Politicians.
I think I said early on in this thread that I believe the ultimate aim is to eliminate DSP all together. Certainly not straight away but eventually when people have been educated to forget their history.

As we all die off it will eventually be gone by stealth.

The only poetry I have ever read is on the good ship Venus or on the back of toilet doors in Flinders st station 40 years ago. Here I sit broken-hearted. Paid a penny and only F'ed.

‘Rather be dead’ than deal with NDIS: user
A woman has told an inquiry into the NDIS she would rather be dead than deal with the bureaucrats running the scheme, saying she had given up. VERITYWarn says she’d rather be dead than deal with National Disability Insurance Scheme and its managing agency.Ms Warn, who has PTSD, told a parliamentary inquiry into the NDIS that she had been “bullied, berated, intimidated and lied to” as she dealt with bureaucrats in the scheme. “They’ve won. I’ve given up,” Ms Warn said. She frequently broke down into tears as she delivered her testimony in the inquiry, saying she struggled to deliver care for both her and her daughter, also on the NDIS. “I am quite clear that I would rather be dead than deal with more of this,” Ms Ward said. “I think of suicide whenever I imagine further engagement with NDIA. “At the end of the day I can’t figure out whether we’re all suffering at the hands of cruel stupidity or stupid cruelty.” NDIA deputy chief executive Vicki Rundle said about four out of five NDIS participants had plans created by contractors, though these had to be signed off by a NDIA delegate. Ms Rundle said the other 20 per cent of participants had complex needs and required face to face meetings with NDIA specialists. “At that point the (co-ordinators) will contact us,” Ms Rundle said. She also said it was her “intention” for participants and their families to be sent draft copies of their plans before they sit down for meetings. Committee members told bureaucrats at the hearing they had received complaints from participants and carers that they often sat down with planners with a finished draft plan put in front of them, often not getting any input in the process. Dougie Herd, who uses the NDIS, said he had better dealings with banks than with his coordinator. Mr Herd said had a 90 minute conversation with his co-ordinator, filled out the paperwork but never saw his draft plan until he was due to sign off on it. “It’s very simple, just show it to me, have a conversation with me and let me – as a sentient human being – have a final observation,” he said. “I think it’s unacceptable I should only see my plan once it’s been agreed to by someone I’ve never met.” www.communitynews.com.au/western-suburbs-weekly/news/rather-be-dead-than-deal-with-ndis-user/

"I was getting desperate to try to find the help I needed," Ms Tomlinson said."So I mentioned that the ABC was doing a story on my battles with the NDIS."I don't know if that influenced it, [but] I feel like I am finally listened to."
mobile.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-26/ndis-apologises-for-delays-in-reviewing-critical-funding/9810882?pfmredir=smTo my mind, says it all really.... no matter which media get involved, people generally get movement and a result. I'm quite intrigued and interested the hows, when's, where's & why's of attracting media interest. Thoughts anyone..... cheers bear

I'm quite intrigued and interested the hows, when's, where's & why's of attracting media interest. Thoughts anyone..... cheers bear bear I think Banjo basically suggested it with his thought of creating a DSP Greatest Hits type bizo over in the music thread. And maybe I'm extending his suggestion to match with your question but why not start our own? Imagine doing an on air interview with some of the folk on this forum??? Communication is the key. Just need broadband width and you could chuck a linux box in the corner. It would not need a screen nor keyboard or any of that peripheral stuff. Conveners would log in much the same as this Forum. Once you set up the music, all youtube so you are not stepping on digital rights stuff, audio and video skype/telegram type interviews plus comments from the forum then we start to drive the discussion and debates. Get some of the other rights organization folk included as well. And over and above it all you need moderators like on this forum. And out front you need accessible faces and voices to carry the messages that we want out there. Then they will come bear . Denis-NFA Now that is very very interesting, quite tempting even perhaps, but way way above my pay grade. Cheers bear

Now that is very very interesting, quite tempting even perhaps, but way way above my pay grade. Cheers bear If no one else steps up to contribute some bandwidth then they can all go and get fundamentally far away because it is easy peasy. It's a computer box. I do not have the bandwidth here in Argao, Cebu but I will do it anyway. Just to show how it works. But it will be the slowest. And, for telephone rasons, I am waiting for my on/off microphone to arrive. Just you wait bear I don't wear a watch anymore because the bandwidth annoys my disabled arm. So can't help.
