Its incredible how many people they have helped to change their lives, and at no cost. The price hads already been paid. Yet some places charge thousands a week and do little else but supply nice surroundings, spas, massages and do little for the sufferer .
Funny, i have a friend who got sober in a relatively free rehab and then went to meetings to maintain his sobriety. After a time he set up his own exclusive Rehab for the rich , hiring masseurs, and renting luxury apartments for the clients , personal chefs and chiros, there was someone at your beck and call . If you had a runny nose in the middle of the night, someone would come and wipe it for you.......Clearly a money making enterprise.....Such a contrast to AA and NA .

One thing that became immediately apparent after I gave up was how much money I had. When i first went to Thailand i asked my brother who was living there, how much i would need to spend,....he said , you dont drink or smoke, youll live on fresh air,...if you can find any ! Some people spend more money on drinking in one night than i spend on a hotel for a month.

Terry, that is normal. Even drinkers do not like to join the school out of step..........the behaviour is slowed, and the jokes are not so funny. In step, its a different thing, every one advances at the same rate. Any one who is not drinking will after a while get bored with the company. Look at the reaction of women, they cannot see why men drink. The rule of thumb is .....do not join the drinking school late or one will feel out of place.
I had a mate who used to explain to his non drinking wife, why he went out ever evening for a beer. The reason he gave her was "they put something in it to make you want more". Good explanation I thought. She stopped asking questions after that. And thinking about his answer, it was close to the truth.
People drink from habit, not such a bad thing, but others drink because of stress, internal stress or external stress and let us not forget boredom.
Winston Churchill was unique, in that he claimed that there never was a time in his day when there was not alcohol in his veins. Perhaps he had a bit of stress to cope with??
And Kennedy lived a low life, polished up by the media. He frequently turned the Whitehouse into a whorehouse with commercial women.......and his security guards commented............."we do not mind the parties, but can"t he find better commercial women cause ones he gets are terrible".
There is a homeopathic remedy that will make people stop drinking, Quercus, if I recall it correctly. There are commercial ones on the net. On Amazon there should be some. They are a mixture of homeopathic remedies at around $15 for so many months.
I bought a combination remedy once to test it. And it worked, I found that I was not only "not thirsty" but I was disliking the beer.I stopped taking it and got my thirst back! I was just doing it for a test not because I wanted to give alcohol away.
But I recommend such a medicine for anyone who wants to stay dry, but occasionally has that bottle magnet drawing him back. These remedies have been in production for many years................with no advertising!! cause not much profit...............$15 for a few months supply is not very profitable.
I just looked up Amazon, and they still have them under health section. A well known one is by Lidell, named Alcohol Safeguard, and its $10!! good for a few months.
Great gift for anyone who wants to stay off but is having difficulty. People do not know much about these remedies and the system is fixed against people knowing.

Homeopathic medicines are quite good for run of the mill things, like stressed nerves, PMS, loneliness. skin allergies, asthma, hair loss, a whole range of things.
They are available in most health food stores. There is a well known manufacturer in Adelaide by name of Brauer.
The run of the mill ones, work over time.....say a week or a month or longer.....and the improvement is noted as one looks back. Nornally the side effects are not greatly noticed.
A word of caution: They can sometimes cause an aggravation initially. That is a stirring up of the emotional cement. The thing to do is to cease the medicine for a week and then recommence with the cemented emotional conditioning now in pieces and easier to give way.
I once gave an emotional medicine to someone who was often depressed, and he said that it made him feel suicidal. So anyone with embedded emotional difficulties should be careful cause they do stir up the embedded emotions. After the initial stirring up, things never get as bad again.

Alcohol kills 15 Australians every day - reportAlcohol kills 15 and hospitalises 430 Australians every day, a new report says. In a decade, the number of fatalities linked to alcohol has swelled by 62 per cent. The report, called Alcohol's Burden of Disease in Australia, shows an increasing number of deaths and disability, along with a larger burden on the health service and social impacts across Australia, according to Turning Point researcher Belinda Lloyd. "The reality is that the long-term effects aren't just confined to one Saturday night, with serious health problems a genuine concern," Dr Lloyd said. Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education chief executive Michael Thorn said urgent, national measures to address the price, promotion and availability of alcohol are needed to save lives. "A decade ago alcohol was responsible for 3430 deaths per year. Now that figure stands at 5554," Mr Thorn said. VicHealth CEO Jerril Rechter said Australia's drinking problem needs to be approached from all angles. The report found injuries accounted for more than one in three alcohol-related deaths among Australian men, with cancer and digestive diseases causing 25 and 16 per cent respectively. Among women, heart disease was the biggest alcohol-related killer, accounting for about a third of deaths. The data from 2010 showed men were at far greater risk of alcohol-related harm than women. More than 100,000 Australian men were hospitalised that year due to alcohol, compared with about 55,000 women. In the same year, alcohol killed 3467 men, compared to 2087 women. Northern Territory residents are three times more likely to die from alcohol use than other Australians, the research found. www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=11302021

I am sorry but how many folks are hospitalises because a smoker went nuts with a bat after a cigarette, how many folks suffer violence after a smoke, end up Gaol, die daily, are admitted to hospital, how many car accidents were caused by smoke driving, NONE... I am a reformed smoker but I get so sick of the do-gooders beating smokers over the head and increasing the cost of a packet when Alcohol is and always has been far more dangerous. I am not saying smoking is guilt free but it is hardly as bad as this. Also it pays its health bill see tax revenue from cigarette taxes and companies. I dont drink but thats because I really like it, get drunk fast, get sober fast and have never had a hangover no matter how plastered I get... but the loss of control associated with alcohol ws never a hassle after a smoke...

The tax on tobacco is outrageous and I admit I smoke BUT hell and damnation, there are a lot of folk that rely on that drug for a simple daily bit of pleasure. I think it is evil the tax level.

And the alcohol that killed him was the cheap $1 a bottle of rum. He like so many others, used to start the day off with a shot or two. Never saw him drunk, but always having cheap rum. That rum, when you leave it stand overnight smells like kerosene in the morning. I see in Thailand that a lot of the cheap spirits are laced with methanol. I think its the same in Philippines. Too many die of cirrhosis there, both Filipinos and foreigners. Give that cheap rum a long long miss. Advanced cirrhosis is not a nice way to die. Tanduay rhum (made in philippines) is safe. I have been drinking this fine drink for 8 years and no problems.

I think it is evil the tax level. the funniest thing is the fact the anti smoking lobbys such as quit are funding from tax on cigarettes a % of profit goes directly to them... so it their best interest to keep folks smoking after all no smoking no job... it is stupid... It has been demoinsed and the general sheep believe it... quitting isnt hard I did after 29 yrs... the same can be said about Marajuana it was banned because of health concerns it was banned because of the conflict with Mexico back in the early 1900... Mexicans were selling to Texas and making a good revenue stream US didnt like that and make it illegal thats the very short version... we have been manipulated about most things for years ... this is just the latest... oh btw Coffee does not stunt your growth, will not harm children either it was a advertising campaign by a breakfast drink competitors no science at all
