hmmmm ok so they were not living together, well what about c/l saing your in a defacto relation ship as soon as your fiance moves in from overseas, even though she don't have a job and is not contributing any thing at all, infact she is costing you money, how about that one.nooooooo we will still put you on a married rate, and your not even f***ing married. Terry, once your partner has arrived in australia, you can apply for Special Benefit payments www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/centrelink/special-benefit. "Generally, newly arrived migrants are required to serve a waiting period of two years called the newly arrived resident’s waiting period. The two-year waiting period does not apply to Australian citizens, refugees and other people who: arrived in Australia as .......... are the partner or dependent child of a person who is: an Australian citizen ..." I think this came into effect since the removal of assurance of assistance.

So your payment will be reduced, but your partner should be able to get a payment.

When i informed centrelink i was now married, they sent me out that form for my partner to fill in. As my partner is not in Australia yet, on half the questions I just put n/a (not applicable). With the form I put a statement that since we are not living together yet, that under their own definition of a partner, we should not be considered partners for centrelink purposes until the partner visa is approved and living together in Australia. Haven't heard back from them and my DSP payment is still at the single rate.
