Thanks for some good tips eight. I have 2 1/2 year to go for my OAP. I live her permanently, so so should have no problems going overseas. But in saying this. It will be interesting to see if who get in Power in September. Will they change the rules going to live Overseas. Who can we trust

Hello eight,
Is there any need in relation to Centrelink requirements for you to return to Australia every 26 weeks?

Hello eight, Is there any need in relation to Centrelink requirements for you to return to Australia every 26 weeks? As you may already know, there are changes to your payment after 13 weeks, and again after 26 weeks depending on your AWLR. I am just playing it safe at the moment as my Australian/NZ AWLR is about 50/50. Returning to OZ every 6 months is not a problem as I need to check my house and mow the lawn that is not yet paved over.

I think it best to come back to Australia about every 6 months, I intend to do so when I go on the OAP.

Banjo, Will you lose much by not coming back every 13 weeks once you get onto the OAP? Once again thanks for the very informative website, as I have 2 years to go before I qualify for the OAP I have plenty of time to get familiar with the rules.
One thing I have left out of my messages to date is the fact that I am a returned service person (unlike in the old days when I was a serviceman), having done time in Vietnam and a total of 15 years in the Navy.
The only reason I mention this is that after talking to some mates who I served with, it is quite apparent that one's service accounts for zip, zero, nada.
We are all in the same boat!
Cheers,

It's something I don't know a lot about, not having had my marble come out of the barrel back in the 60s, but when I started this forum I did contact an overseas veterans group, the Angeles City, Philippines, RSL and they were very supportive. If you wanted more information they could be of assistance. rslangelescity.com/new/Age pensioners and DSP recipients living overseas lose the pension supplement after 6 weeks and a number of other allowances. www.dss.gov.au/our-responsibilities/seniors/benefits-payments/pensioners-overseas-0This thread is now more than 2 years old, I'd like to point out that I have not set foot in Australia since I left in July that year. I may go back next year to pick up my new bank card and renew my drivers license.

Morrison may have unleashed a tsunami. While the LNP smugly demonised DSP, single mothers, Newstart they have kept almost silent on OAP. It was the 1980s I think that grey power came to being and it was able to muster a huge number of people. Morrison may just have done it again but now with social media it will take on new proportions.

This could be the only thing that could get them the arse in the next election.
Hell hath no fury as an old age pensioner scorned.

That and the Abbott "insurgency". Captain clownshoes with the help of Abetz and co should sink them completely. Plus with OAP being offside, it's not only them. It's their offspring who will send a message to Morrison.

...and he's not just getting into pensioners. Morrison opens up super tax debateTreasurer Scott Morrison has opened up a debate on scaling back superannuation tax breaks to help fund income tax cuts. In a speech to the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia on Friday, Mr Morrison said superannuation had to be considered in the context of the broader economy. "Could the costs of providing superannuation tax concessions, for example, be directed elsewhere in the economy to make it work more efficiently?" he asked at the association's annual conference in Brisbane. www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/treasurer-eyeing-super-breaks-to-cut/news-story/43e1321d415dfa7cabc74577e97c71acDie on the job you bludging scum....

yes I read this. Winding back the concessions and then giving it back in tax cuts. Man oh man, where did this clown do economics? Where Morrison sits with the power play is interesting. Captain clownshoes won't have a bar of him so perhaps when the next spill occurs morriscum will put his hand up. I also note the poodle Pyne hasn't spoken with clownshoes since the glorious knifing. Oh I do love a good old LNP bloodbath. Pop Corn anyone? ?
