Welcome to the forum.
What you would have to do is ring Welfare Rights in your home state and ask them to talk to Centrelink about reinstatement of benefits pending appeal.
While it was fairly common practice to cut pensioners off while outside of Australia in the past, it happened to me twice, there was a considerable backlash and Centrelink came under criticism in the Senate for it, and virtually promised it wouldn't happen again.
They will still do it for overstaying though.

Embassies are a dicey prospect at best, a friend of mine told me last night he was refused access to one in Asia. (Mind you, I wouldn't have let him in either).
If you're going to get cut off for overstaying you're going to need a pretty good reason to convince the authorities it wasn't your fault.
Leaving Australia on a one way ticket is a very risky process, not only because you may have unexpected expenses while away but Centrelink consider this an reason to stop your residency as they say you had no intentions of returning.

Welcome to the board Sum, and I hope it all works out for the best for you mate:) That's a good idea LD; maybe down a bottle of JD and get helped onto the plane; citing airsickness/panic attacks:) But honestly Sum; C/L will say that you flew there or got there somehow, so they'll say you should be able to get home unfortunately:(

Ring Welfare Rights in your home state now, Centrelink will never believe this with out some VERY solid psych reports. Personally I'd start looking for a job.

Hi Sum, This may seem rather simplistic, but would it be possible for you to take some kind of tranquiliser which calms you right down, but doesn't knock you out ?

Boy, you got that right, earning money on line is no where as easy as those little popup ads claim.
I think that you should look up the number for Welfare Rights in your home state and ring them, although Skype credit is cheap, if you can't afford that send them an email with your problem and a phone number they can call.
Are you currently receiving payments?

Hi, I think I know you, is your first name hans? Can I ask what did you do when you flew out to Asia? that's gotta work for the return flight You dont need a prescription for Tramadol a synthetic opiate you can take one very 4 hours and it should help with anxiety washed down with a little JD. I would hot foot it to the embassy as its the only really short term solution, nothing ventured nothing gained right?

OK, being Victorians they have to be different and call themselves Social Security Rights.
+61 3 9481 0355.
They don't seem to have an email address but try this, it's the Sydney office and you are overseas.
welfarerights@welfarerights.org.au
You need to think seriously about this, I can tell you right now that it will be extremely difficult to get Centrelink to reinstate your pension while you are overseas; we have a member trapped in Indonesia with documentation by medical specialists of a serious ear infection preventing her flying and she's got no sympathy at all.
And you have 13 weeks to return from the day your portability ended or you will have to reapply, and be assured the new assessment process is a lot harder than it was last year or earlier.
